Post by Clueless Sat Mar 07, 2015 8:16 pm

I live in Chapala Haciendas and got a note from the office today about a small dog that was killed by two large dogs. These dogs are well known as are the owners. I have seen them but they don't mess w/me as I carry a TASER.

The note from the office in part said: this week there was an attack from two dogs (mid size to big) to another and the result was the little one did not make it, a resident ask me to sent out an email with a pic of the dog (small brown chihuahua with a yellow strap but no tag) the pic is not nice so, I wont sent it but, if somebody has lost a dog like this please contact the office for more details about it. In the mean time there has been a letter in this regard for the owners of this dogs (owners live on Chambergo street, and just in case for now you might want to avoid this street between alondra and pajaro de fuego) or at least be aware that those two dogs are getting quite vicious

What a bunch of crap! A letter was sent to the owners of these dogs. Like the owners don't know about what their dogs are doing?

And we all know it will do no good whatsoever to report it to the police; the police don't investigate and does anyone think that the "Detectives" are going to investigate a dog being killed by another dog? Hell no.

IMP, there is only one way to handle this situation, and that is to get an attorney and file some sort of civil action against the owners; there has to be some civil action that can be taken.

Spencer - - - what say you.

There I no one in this World that loves dogs more than I do and to allow these dogs to continue to be at large, is not only dangerous to all of us and our animals, but unacceptable.

I am asking everyone who cares about this to donate to a fund to hire an attorney to do something. I will arrange for donations to this fund to be collected at the Fracc office until there is enough to pay an attorney to do something.

I am NOB but will be returning within the week and when I do, I will set up the fund if it's OK w/the BOD and be the first to put in $1,000.

I'm asking everyone to please help on this one and send a message to people that this isn't going to be tolerated.

And please don't let any personal feelings/thoughts you may have about me deter your thinking from the point of this post.

Thanks.

It would be a shame if the dogs became victims of a drive by shooting. Cheaper too.

These are the same dogs who killed our elderly cat a few months ago. And chased a neighbor into his house. And killed another small dog, and... The BoD would rather worry about important things such as unsightly construction materials in front of building sites - important things ya know.

I don't agree w/the drive-by shooting and if the BOD won't do anything, this is why I want to go after the owners.

Will anyone else make a donation to the fund?

Can someone please post this on TOB?

Something similar happened to my neighbor when I lived in Jocotopec. Vicious dog attached and nearly killed my neighbor's dog and severely bit and wounded my neighbor. He had photos of the injuries and bills and a letter from his doctor. He reported it to the police and because there had been other reports the police went to the home of the offending dog, took it and put it down. And the same neighbor bought a cattle prod which he took along in future walks in the area.

Flamingo so sorry about your cat.

Call the police and make a denuncio at Ministerio Publico. The dogs are a public menace and won't be deterred by pepper spray. O know about that personally.

Are these pitbulls? If so the owner is some young kid with a torta stand in Riberas who stiffed the last guy for his medical bills.

This post is a good opportunity for the moderation here to demonstrate whether or not it is serious about ending the personal snarkiness on this board.

Will they take advantage of it?

Clueless, you have my sympathy but I think the idea of a lawsuit is pretty unrealistic. I'd personally look for a more "Mexican" solution to this problem. Good luck to you and your neighbors.

What exactly would the"Mexican" solution be?

Clueless sure is in a hurry to spend other people's money on a lawsuit.

What I am in a hurry for is to try to see the danger removed by responsible action of the owner(s) and I feel working within the law is the best way.

If no one else wants to help offset the costs, then I will pay them myself. I have 2 (and maybe 3) dogs I really love and I want to know whey are safe when they are being walked as well as the person walking them.

If you want to put me down for that, then feel free to be you.

And for my two-pesos worth, I don't believe saying a "Mexican solution" should be sought is in any way racial or any other stereotyping.

I just talked to some neighbors, and the BOD has contacted their lawyer who has sent a demand letter to the owner of the dogs. We shall see.

These aren't the pit bulls, although one of the pits attacked a neighbor last week, and he whomped it with a baseball bat.

Cattle prod hmmmm....

Respectfully, what good is a demand letter going to do? Demand what? That the owners keep their vicious dogs in the yard? This should be done in any case. The owners will ignore any letter; to these people, a piece of paper is worthless unless it's from the court and they have to get an pay an attorney. How many letters have these owners gotten from a BOD in the past? Did they do any good?

A TASER, of which I have three (none for sale) will work, but that only protects you and maybe your dog(s) at that moment, but what about the people/dogs that come after you?

I said my say and clearly there is no interest in doing anything substantive about the situation other than some posturing on this board and some "demand letter." And BTW, and I ask Spencer to comment on what I say now: From what I understand an attorney may not send a letter making any sort of threat against someone, including a threat of legal action.

So I'm out of this discussion which I feel is now nothing more than mental mast**bation.

Just curious.........Why would you think that anyone living outside of CH would want to get involved in this? Sounds to me like this should be between you, your CH neighbors, your lawyer and the perps.

Which house do the dogs live at?  I've never seen the dogs.  Is it the house across from the horse or the guy further on by the steps?
Does anyone know what the owner of these dogs does for a living?

Must be the house across from the horse. Isn't this the same dog owner that had a dog that attacked a resident? It's very irresponsible of the home owner. Is he letting the dogs roam free at night or are they getting out on their own? btw, If you're a resident of Chapala Haciendas and not part of the virtual neighborhood watch group, send me a pm.

I do not understand why Clueless does not consider calling the police and making a denuncio at Ministerio Publico as “working within the law.” He says he is in a hurry to see the danger removed. He knows better than most how long the Mexican court system takes and how expensive a case can get for the plaintiff. It seems the best hope for quickly resolving this is to involve the police or find a way to solve the problem yourself.
