BAGPIPERS
This is not a joke posting. Are there any bagpipe players out there - Scots, Irish, Northumbrian, or from Brittany? I'm not fussy. How could I be ? No darn kilt required, no sporan (sic), no nothing, just to be able to carry a couple of tunes without my wincing. There will be negotiated pesos involved, plus perks like food and bevies. One night. Dates: March 28 - thru 30: those 3 nights, pick one. A couple of hours, out by 9 pm at the latest. Small audience, maybe 16, behind the walls. Then again, we could go crazy and hit the streets. Revisit time.

Thank you "Pedro". God love you and "may the force be with you". I am , in fact, looking for living, breathing, humans (or variations thereof) who in fact play bagpipes, maybe here. Please revisit my post. I am not trolling. No bag pipers, no big deal. I'll acquire alternative excellent Mx musicians here. Not hearing, no longer caring.

Don't they have a big "Bobbie Burns" dinner and pipers around here, organized by some group?

Re: BAGPIPERS
Ron Barnett who lives, or at least lived in Roca Azul, plays bagpipes. He used to write for the Lake Chapala Review. Judy King probably knows how to reach him.

Re: BAGPIPERS
Yeah, there is someone, or a small group of someones, here that pipe. You may need to network a bit but you can find them. I think I would ask at the Legion. They may have someone that pipes for funerals or something. Look around, you'll find someone.
If you can find an old copy of the LCR you will find an article or 3 by Ron and I believe his email addy is included. His mother also wrote for them, forget her first name, but she can put you in touch too.

Exactly so, Pedro. The dinner is an annual event. Never attended, so can't comment further. I'll bet the Legion would be a good place for info. Bagpipes and soldiers seem to have a symbiotic relationship.

Now, excellent haggis already sounds a little off putting, but PUTRID haggis? Oy vey, that's sweetly sprung in May.

Re: BAGPIPERS
Ya know, this was NOT what I remembered from days of yore! But the clip was fun. In my days in Bedford, MA, yawn, a sleepy suburb of Boston, we had a bagpiper. He used to stroll about on summer evenings in full regalia. And when I lived in Merrimacport MA, north of Boston, an ancient village, we had bagpipers at weddings and funerals. Ancestral plaid was worn. Thanks for reminding me! I have a bit of the heritage meself. Warrior blood. Possibly explains a lot about my personality.

Re: BAGPIPERS
My personal pipe band Favs - the "Quigley Highlander Pipes & Drums". Gotta love an award winning pipe band whose leader/boss wears an eye patch, and, I think lacks a smidgen of Scots dna. Could be wrong but they rock my bag pipe world.
The annual "Edinburgh Festival" usually has a bag pipe thingie on the side. It's part of it but not well advertised. You might have to dig a little but it's awesome and showcases all the different bag pipes, styles and origins. They're not just Scottish. I loved the Northhumberland(sic) that is small and designed to be played indoors, a la soiree.
