why do it yourself?
i am talking about temporal and permanente visas. we have always used a facilitator. the first year it didn't cost anything as a perk because of the work i did for chapala. once spencer went on his own with a staff of hundreds that's who we have been using. we got our permanente cards today -2 visits to immigration-100ft.away from our casa for a total time of about 15 minutes[no waiting] and one visit to spencer's office for about 20 minutes.
muchos gracias spencer and all his staff.

I tell people that they will need to renew and show bank statements in 200 years.
Although if they check you in as a tourist then you lose it or if they change the format of the card they may make you replace it with the new one.

We too have employed Spencer's office staff for our dealings with INM and other departments of the Mexican Gov't. Always with complete satisfaction.

Im chill, not pissed off, another day, another peso. I did just present an amparo to have part of the immigration law used against innocent foreigners declared invalid so we will see how it goes. TGIF, time to relax!

"Why do it yourself?"
To prove to myself that I can.
I have navigated bureaucratic stuff here, in Spanish, by myself, because I prefer to feel self-sufficient. But there have also been times when I've hired both Spencer and Azucena Bateman when I knew I'd likely need help and didn't want to screw things up. They have both done great jobs and I am sincerely happy and relieved that they are here for help!

With me I have a sort of insurance policy built in. If we do it all properly and immigration screws up and you didnt contribute to it and told me the truth, then we file the appeals for free, instead of charging 10,000 to 20,000 pesos to do it as in many cases they screw up and your only choice is to leave Mexico and reapply for a new visa but if you dont make any money then you are screwed and the appeal will save you.

Re: why do it yourself?
It's my understanding those Visas must be applied for outside of Mexico, then complete the process within 30 days after entry. That being the case, how can Spencer do that for you (except maybe the second part)?

Re: why do it yourself?
We do the second part, exactly. The only exception is we can do everything in Mexico if your spouse, child or partner is a citizen or has residency documents.

Re: why do it yourself?
Everybody should be welcome to Mexico, uff, I really do not understand the reason as to why our authorities do not make their stay easier... I hate when a foreing has a problem.... when he/she is been abused for a smart ass... the most of them are nice with the local people, they wouldn't have any trouble here. So, if we can help, let's do it.

I hate it when Mexicans have problems in the States and cannot get a visa so go there illegally and then get stuck not being able to come back..I know a young woman who cannot get a tourist visa to go to the States, she has not seen her father in 12 years and now want to find a coyote to go and visit him for a few weeks..that I really hate.
The problms foreigners have in Mexico are minimal, just annoyances in comparaison.

The US consulate in Guadalajara denied my wife's request for a tourist visa even though I provided plenty of documents which the stupid bitch who interviewed her didn't even take the time to look at.brigitte wrote:I hate it when Mexicans have problems in the States and cannot get a visa so go there illegally and then get stuck not being able to come back..I know a young woman who cannot get a tourist visa to go to the States, she has not seen her father in 12 years and now want to find a coyote to go and visit him for a few weeks..that I really hate.

I called the vice consul,he said he would put a note in her file but we would have to re-apply and pay the application fee again, they are incompetent bureaucrats and aholes.

Re: why do it yourself?
yes and we think that foreigners have problems here...
By the way the note may or may not be in the file and then if your wife is denied again they will tell her to pay again...it is just awful.

Re: why do it yourself?
Knowing a bit about the difficulties that people have trying to immigrate to Canada I believe we are treated like kings down here. The process for a residency visa is quick (relatively speaking) and easy IMO.
