WillieRae, notice? You want a notice? According to the Mexican business model, everybody just knows -- or they should anyway. And, if they do not know, someone will tell them. If they do not know and nobody tells them, they will come back another day.

Yep.
And Mom has been here for some 30 or so years, she's used to doing things that way. That's the way we roll here.

Huh ?...."Mom", Mae Collins, passed away several years ago and the restaurant in no way has been there or down behind the lab 30 years.
Maybe 10 to 15 at the most.
And yes they will be back on the 23 de julio.

Yep. She passed recently, sadly. Her restaurant has been here since I got here '04 and she's been here long enough to have a son in his 40s who was raised here. . . Hence my guess that she/they've been here long enough to do things the 'old' way. My bad.

The new location is on the western corner of the same row where the old restaurant used to be. Lots of glass.

Not just huffing and puffing as we were next door neighbors from early 80's to mid 90"s....Tex and Mom, that's where the restaurant name came from.
Daughter Camille, now operates the restaurant. She isn't going anywhere except back to work.

The OLD restaurant Mom's used to be by S&S auto and Puritan Poultry. Same, well some changes, good food and service and nice people.

Also remember that it was Mom's son, Rod Collins who brought internet to lakeside in the late spring of 1997. His company where I used to volunteer in the mornings for some ten years is called Lagunanet. They still have internet towers along lakeside and his office is now at his home in Joco.
Their webpage is www.laguna.com.mx

Re: What happened to Mom's?
Gosh I just went to Rod's Webpage. It would appear that he is downsizing and that as of last month he stopped providing service in Riberas del Pilar and Ajijic. Apparently their WiFi towers to the West of Ajijic to Joco are still active.

For the history buffs of the area....
You are correct that that's where it started with Paul and Jose (Joe), then Mom came aboard and later when Paul retired she moved the restaurant to the space behind/aside where the medical lab is now. Later and more recently into the new building just west as gringal says.
Her food is tops.
Does anyone remember when Paul and Joe sold chickens where Bellon Insurance is now. That's when they really started.

Before my time. How long ago was that?
She's to be commended, well, her memory is to be commended for starting and running an excellent business, longevity in the restaurant business is a true sign of skill, and for having good food throughout. Mae Collins was a special woman.

Probably sometime in the 80's, don't remember exactly, but Paul started the business and Mae would be the first to tell you that she continued the standards of excellence that he demanded. Joe as well on the poultry side.

Do the cinnamon rolls have raisins in them? If so, no thanks. I make good ones but can't eat 12 of them.

Nope, that would be a deal breaker for me too. Mae and I discussed on several occasions about our dislike of raisins in cinnamon rolls.....lots of pecans though urp...burp.....and cinnamon.
12??? you would be doing good to get one down....they are not small.
