Did I piss off an Aztec god?
Did I piss off an Aztec god?
About 3 weeks ago, I went to Centro Universitario de Ciencias Biológicas y Agropecuarias located at Camino Ramón Padilla Sánchez 2100, Nextipac, 44600 Zapopan, JAL. I was helping a friend who needed to go there to complete her application to attend the University. While she was taking care of her business, I wandered over and took a photograph of a statue on the lawn.
Using that photograph I fooled around with it and created a couple of artistic versions that I later posted on Facebook.
A couple of days ago, I checked the Google Keep program on my smartphone. I use it to keep track up a few items and for my groceries list. I noticed that my grocery list was gone and in its place was a message that said something like "You have my avatar" in English and in Spanish it said something like Clinica Médica. There was also a voice message recording beneath that that said you have my photo.
Well, the Aztec God must have been busy all these years. He has learned English and Spanish and how to invade the Android smartphones.
This is not bullshit. It really happened. Of course, it may be a virus of some sort. If so it's the first time I've ever run into a virus on my smartphone.

I just have a simple, dumb flip phone. I just worry about the skeeters getting in it.

Was the statue you took the photo of on the lawn of a medical clinic?

The name of the facility is Centro Universitario de Ciencias Biológicas y Agropecuarias. Which in English is University Center for Biological and Agricultural Sciences.
I have discovered a copy of the message and here is the exact quote "you have my Facultad de Ciencias médicas. Avatar"
I have tried to post the photo on this board but for some reason it's not working.

Yes, he at least knows Spanglish but he's probably good at Spanish since evidently he's on the faculty of this college.
I think I have discovered how this message was showing up in Google Keep. You could create a document in Google Keep and add a collaborator if you have the person's email address and Google Keep. So whoever sent this evidently has my email address. I am somewhat relieved to assume that this is not a virus.

Re: Did I piss off an Aztec god?
But why does he think your photo is his avatar? And where did he get your email address?

I just found out that you don't have to have a person's email address. All you need to do is enter a person's name as a collaborator and the document will show up in their version of Google Keep.

I really do not understand this new-fangled technology.

You need to be careful of what you are putting into your mind.
