web maintenance person needed
I'm posting on behalf of the Ajijic Society of the Arts. They have a public website: ajijicart.weebly.com
It contains announcements of shows, photos of members work, general information. The volunteer member who was maintaining the site is gone and they would like to get information about what someone knowledgeable about web maintenance would charge to take this task over. It's not a very large project, as you'll see when you check out the site.
Any takers? Please send me a PM.

"Microsoft Certified" means almost nothing for a web page. Most web servers run on Linux and open source.
That's like saying a Boat Mechanic is qualified to work on an Airplane.
Not to mention "Microsoft Certified" in what? Windows XP?
I thought I had heard it all..

Actually most website building software now is grab and drop. Just about anyone can build and maintain basic websites. The days of needing to know and create script are gone for most applications. Weebly websites are easy for just about anyone to maintain.

Still SHows that "Microsoft Certified" is of no consequence. Personally I build in PHP . IN terms of a user there are "drag and drop" interfaces" but its not built that way

Her website is a Weebly site. Easy for anyone to create and maintain. Even an aircraft mechanic......
To me "Microsoft Certified" would mean that the person probably has an above average knowledge of computers, networking, MS software and operating systems.

I expect Weebly would be pretty easy for a non-techie person. I am an old code slinger - my own little corner on a corporate Intranet etc. - but I only know HTML. Weebly is a total pain in the keester if you know how it should look and how to code it.
You need one of your members who has a good eye for design and a bit of time to give to the organization. It is easy to learn.

If you hire out for web design and maintenance, everytime you do anything like change a date, correct something, add anything you have to track down your web person, make an appt for them to come and make the changes, and wait for them to show up and then you have to pay them.
As Flamingo said, much easier to find an artist member who is willing to learn easy web design and maintain the site. Cheaper too!

Well it's not quite that complicated. You just have to send them an email and they can do the maintenance from any computer anywhere in the world. I have built and currently still maintain a couple of simple websites for people. They pay me once a year. I used to maintain about 8 of them for local charities but the low pay (free) vs responsibility/hassle factor was getting to be like a job......jaja.
