Re: Shared office space
Telmex definitely offers business plans. Every time I'm in the Ajijic office with a client I see the flyers promoting the various plans. How well they deliver on the promoted speeds I don't know.

Re: Shared office space
I don't know about the business plans but the consumer packages, 30MB and up are based on the availability of fibre optic cable. Unfortunately, Telmex doesn't have fibre optic cables in this area. That's why my 40MB plan tops out at about 10MB.
Extra speed wasn't the reason I opted for it anyway; the slight increase is a bonus.

ATT Unlimited Plan 4G, you get up to 12mbps (no guarantee on speed) and 20gb data for $150 (dollars) a month.
T Mobile Unlimited Plan 4G, you get 3-25mbps (no guarantee on speed) and 22gb data for the same price.
3G is much slower speed, 3mbps max.

And across the street from you, on the same plan, best I ever could manage was 5MBs. Go figure.

Re: Shared office space
My speed did increase after an over height truck tore my line out and they had to replace it from the pole to my house. They also cleaned up the little box on the side of my house where the line connects. There is something to be said about cleaning all your connections.

Re: Shared office space
True.....Too many people just assume that the problems are the responsibility of Telmex, when the connection to their house, at that little box, is the beginning of your own responsibility. Wire connections do loosen with constant temperature fluctuations, insects using the box as a home, etc. Then, there are the possible connections within your own wals, so it is wise to learn where they are, as they are your responsibility; not Telmex. If you cannot check them yourself, an electrician can help.
By the way; the same is true for TV cable connections.

Re: Shared office space
Finally have enough speed this morning to run Ookla. . .
5.18 down and .49 up This is high speed for me, but it will diminish over the day as more and more people log on. Pathetic.

Re: Shared office space
There is a Facebook Group, Working from Home Lakeside. Member Michael Frey has a great idea about trying to get high speed fiber by approaching the new hospital and Chapala Haciendas Hotel to see if they would be interested in renting office space. Sounds like a great idea.
