Moving Down Question
Hey guys, I need some collective wisdom for a friend who is moving down late March from NV. She plans to fly down with little doggie and a couple of suitcases of clothes and computer etc. But she wants to ship down some boxes, about 100lbs, too.
Everyone I know who has had shipped stuff down here had nothing but problems. Being held up by Aduana, having to hire a lawyer to get the stuff released, waiting months and months, and costing mucho in propinas and other bs.
Maybe it's not like that anymore. . .what do you guys think???
TIA

Re: Moving Down Question
There's a man named Alex Peterson who has schlepped things from the border for people satisfactorily for some time. I don't have his number, but someone else most likely can get the contact for you.

Re: Moving Down Question
I would pack it into two extra pieces of luggage and pay the $75 per extra bag fee and bring it on the plane. We even brought a satellite dish for the extra bag fee.

That's what I was thinking too, Bob!! That"s what I was going to advise her, wanted to hear what you guys thought.
I could send my neighbor to get her with his van, he's a driver. . .
Best and cheapest way.

Have used Estafeta USA on several occasions for that kind of shipment and it went very smoothly. The price they quote you includes any duty, etc. and they picked up from our place ( 2 74# boxes).

Re: Moving Down Question
Due to having done the lock, stock and barrel move to and from Lakeside too many times we are old hands at this Trailrunner. For our most recent move this April we flew Volaris and checked three Amazon Basics large duffles ($19.99 apiece) per person. You have to pack stuff carefully and obviously duffles don't work for fragile stuff but they cost and weigh nearly nothing and you can fit a hell of a lot of stuff in them.
Volaris has really good "paquettes" and reasonable per bag fees. And last time I checked they fly non-stop to Guad. from Las Vegas.
