THUMBS UP OR DOWN

For the usual mysterious reasons, I no longer have the option of checking either on others' posts.  Not that this will change the course of the discussions involved, but it would be nice to have that option.
 
Hope this can be repaired.

I see that my constant fan has responded with the usual thumbs down.    

This is just creepy.  How about going to the Octagon and stating your gripe?  That's what most people do.  It's not news to me that not everybody likes me.  

(Edit a few minutes later):  You just blew your cover with the latest thumb down...I did a little sleuthing and it was easy to figure out who this.  It goes WAY back to an incredibly nasty PM you sent me on TOB, si?  (The....Book of Records).  Creepy.  Really creepy.

There is nothing to be repaired.

This is a computer dummy here. What can I do to fix it so that I have this option? It worked until recently. Then it didn't.

Just the usual.........reboot your computer, clear the caches, cookies, etc.

Reboot is clear. Not that clear to me about caches and cookies, so I'll wait till the resident geek returns and solicit help.

Scratch all that. It doesn't matter who it is or why. Not worth notice.

Bullying does matter and as a refresh it won't be tolerated.

Better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you are not.

Why would a thumbs down be bullying? While I am asking, I thought the thumbs were anonymous. How did you figure it out?

Something is going on with the thumbs down for gringal. It doesn't matter WHAT she says, she's getting thumbs down on just about everything. And that's just plain mean spirited and spiteful. imho

Yes, it is.  And if it's who I think it is, it's not surprising, but that person has to live with that kind of mind 24/7.  After all, it's "sticks and stones" etc.  I started noticing it when it seemed that it made no difference what the topic was, the negative "comment" appeared.  But enough, already.

I don’t care enough to think about it. Why do you care so much? I am not being snarky. I honestly do not understand why you would allow what is basically juvenile behavior bother you. I seldom even notice anyone’s thumbs up or down. If I had noticed the consistent thumbs down for even the most innocuous posts I would question the intelligence and/or maturity of the person behind the thumbs.

I thought each member was only allowed one vote, up or down, how are they circumventing that?  As you say, not very important, in the grand scheme of life.
Most older members wore out their thumbs when Pedro was around, but I couldn't be bothered. Now bennie was a different matter, she knew how to get under my skin, but I did save my thumbs.

There is only one thumb vote per member and they are anonymous. I can't even see who votes.

When someone bothers to claim non-snarkiness, they usually are being snarky, and know it well.

I think the subject has received all the attention it deserves at this point.

Wonder why one can't see the thumb votes on their posts. . .not important to me but I wonder what the purpose of it is if one can't see them.

Gringal, even though you consider it snarky, I still do not understand why you care enough to have brought the topic up, how you know who it is giving you the thumb downs when not even CBob can tell, and why giving someone thumbs down is (or even CAN be) considered bullying for gripes sake. Helpful hint: next time you don’t want attention from other posters don’t post the subject on a web board.

You will only see the thumbs on your own posts when/if someone votes on it.

Some folks just can't let things go. I'd like to, but apparently you don't think that hoss hasn't been beaten enough. I don't need any "helpful hints" from on high. Try to imagine being on the receiving end of what you're sending.

My original post was about getting the thumbs option back for myself.
I never claimed bullying. Others called it that, including the mod. IMO, it was a coward's gesture meant to be annoying. It was like a fly buzzing the table, but not a big item on my horizon.

Since you asked, my sleuthing consisted of recalling who has given me a hard time in the past; checking the name and when it was on this web last. Bingo, but I can't prove a thing.

Now, can we please pronounce that horse dead?

Thank God, I was gone all day until 8:30 last night, with witnesses, or I would have been rounded up with "the usual suspects".......

The last time a couple of people couldn't register a vote was because their upload speed was so slow that it didn't have time to register before they moved on.
