For those who may not know it is called the recaudadora, payment is made at the same window where you pay for the renewal of your auto registration.
Best to pay in advance as we did this past week.

10:30 am: no more entry tickets to renew drivers license in chapala today. Probably 50 or more people out of luck.

Screw this (maybe) bi-monthly, maybe they'll show up/maybe they won't, maybe you'll be able to do it/maybe you won't Chapala Outreach Circus.
I'll renew mine next time I need to go to Guadalajara.
(I realize that may not be an option for some. So good luck to all on the next local merry-go-round.)

I'm with you, Rosa, another pile of bull pucky.
The good thing is, they don't seem to mind if your license is expired so - why hurry? No need to have to rush off to renew, just wait until they actually DO show up.

Well, they let 120-150 people in to do this. By my estimations, at least another 120-150 were turned away. Great system...

Until you get stopped by Transito (of some flavor), and then the old "we are going to have to call the grua routine".
Best to have someone with a current license with you when you are driving with expired as a backup.

Re: Drivers License in Chapala Mid-Feb?
I can't even fathom why anyone would stand around for 4+ hours in that local gong show when you can simply go to Guadalajara. Sure it may still take 3 hours with the drive but at least you are doing something to bide the time. There aren't many things I would voluntarily stand around 4 hours for.......
