Flights to Mexico City
I need to fly to Mexico City to get a Federal Police report. I do not know how long it will take. I have to go and get in line and wait to get it processed. Depending on the line it could take all day or I might have to come back the following day.
What I am needing to know is how other people fly to Mexico City to do business. What is the cheapest airline and can I just buy my ticket at the airport when I go and come back or Book a flight and return trip and change the return trip If needed.
Any suggestions?

Volaris. Book online but check for coupons. Book One-way and then, when you know your return, book one way back. Again, coupons.

If you are planning to go to CDMX to obtain La constancia de antecedentes no penales federal (Certificate of no prior criminal record, federal level), you might want to check with a local attorney here (maybe Spencer) to see about getting this document using a Carta de Poder (Power of Attorney) without your having to make the trip in person. I've heard of others successfully getting this document in this way.
As for myself, I ended up making the trip in person last year out of ignorance. You should know that, if you're over the age of 60, there's a special "geezer" line. When you come up to the gate of the office in Coyoacán, march ahead of all the others waiting in line and show the guards your INAPAM card or some other ID with your age/birthdate on it. They will then escort you to the special line with its own dedicated waiting area and staff to help you. I was in and out in 20 minutes, in contrast to all the other younger folks who ended up waiting for hours.
Note also that no active electronic devices are allowed inside the facility. All cell phones, tablets, computers, etc., must be turned off and powered down before the guards will allow entry.
HTH,
Don

Fly out on a 8 o clock flight and go back on a 4 or 5 o clock flight or go in the morning spend the day visiting, go to a show or a nice restaurant and fly back the next day.

Forget Spencer . take an 8 oclock flight take a cab to get your papers. book a 5 oclock flight back and you have time for lunch or book a flight the next day , spend the ight near the Zocalo and go visit museums, or walk in centro or stay around Coyoacan and visit Coyoaca,
I had to do it 3 times. The first time , it took me anout one hour to get the papers.. max, got on the place, and lost all my paprs so I had to get other papers my passport, permanent visa and so on. a nightmare then a year later I did it again, same deal very easy less than one house, then the followint year I went with my husband and did it again with him that time we stayed a couple of days and had a great time.j Take the time and enjoy Mexico City since you have to go there
