Shootings In Guad

I have just heard that there was a Cartel shooting near the American Consulate in Guad. I saw the video and it looks pretty serious. Rumor has it there may have been more shootings in the city. Anyone have more information.

Per the Guad news only one shooting 4 injured. among the 4, 2 were only 14 years old. The Government official they were trying to kill only got shot in the hand.

My friend in Guadalajara sent me 32 fotos via whatsapp and it appears to be more serious than reported by the media. But I have not talked with him, so I do not know where he sourced the info.

It was an attempted assassination of Labor Secretary, Luis Carlos Najera.

Event: The U.S. Consulate received reports of narco-blockades and police operations on May 21, 2018 in the metropolitan area.

U.S. government personnel are advised to shelter in residences overnight and coordinate with the Consulate if traveling outside the city tomorrow.

We expect the Consulate to be open during normal business hours tomorrow May 22, 2018.



Actions to Take:

·      Avoid any areas of potential disturbance

·      Monitor local media for updates

·      Be aware of your surroundings

Luis Nájera was a good man to my friend Linda who was carjacked up on the Libramiento in Joco. He came here to Joco during the investigation and there was a big meeting with him, other Joco dignitaries, and the foreign community at Viva Mexico. It was standing room only. He was Attorney General at that time and he went above and beyond.

He still is alive he was the head of the Fiscalia and came to the big meeting on security in Ajijic.i Te cartels have been after him for a while. Yesterday there were 8 wonded and 6 arrests and it was followed by some bloqueos with cars on fire...
