M & J moving back to town
Just got back with a nice hot M&J pizza. Turns out the boys are moving back to a in town location, likely next month.
Re: M & J moving back to town
Sorry - Ajijic. But, I mean, is there really another town??
(And, I know, I know...)

Did they give you any idea of exactly where they'll be located?

Re: M & J moving back to town
Back to M&J's pizza relocation, I hope.
Moises and Josh opened and built a thriving business in lower, central Ajijic. Then - no fault of theirs - the building was sold and they had to re-locate. That original location was perfect...many could walk there, and there was also tons of parking available nearby. Rare in "the village" of Ajijic.
The current location they're at offers neither advantage. Most people HAVE TO drive there, and there is very, very little parking. Bad combination.
I hope they find a good location in Ajijic so they can succeed. They are good guys with good pizza. I much prefer it to the Purple Garlic place.

I hope wherever they end up they invest in at least a couple of normal height tables and chairs. I see far too many old folks struggling up and down off those high stools. Once up there, sitting is most uncomfortable for old hips — especially for the vertically challenged among us. Their pizza is my favorite but I have several friends say they don’t want to go there because the seating is so uncomfortable.

They told me they were looking were looking at a few places in Ajijic. I mentioned that the Poutine Place closed, so they may look there as well.
And my "town" comment was just to make trouble!

Hate to see them move there. The owner of the building has a bad reputation among former tenants There is a reason a successful restaurant like the Poutine Place closed up at the begging of high season and is looking for a new location.

I totally agree with you, Lady Otter Latte. Those barstools and tables were extremely uncomfortable. I also hope they have normal height tables and chairs in their new location.

Re: M & J moving back to town
I live west of their current location and I have noticed what seemed to be a reduction in customers at M & J in recent weeks (maybe a couple of months)
Then last week my favourite pizza place is closed on Wednesdays and I went there for a take out. Not impressed, small quantity of toppings, thick crust and to top it off the owner chose to pick a fight with the waiter as he was delivering a glass of wine to my table. I was not impressed by that and the fact they have done nothing to improve their restaurant since they moved in. It is like a barn.
I probably won't be going to a new location in Ajijic unless they have good parking.
BTW I expect their tall tables and bar stools will be going to wherever they move

Re: M & J moving back to town
I called them to get a few pizzas delivered last Friday night. They said sorry no delivery as our driver has been sick since Monday. They couldn't get a replacement in 5 days??? They are their own worst enemy…...

Re: M & J moving back to town
I, for one, hate to see them move from their locatiion just west of Six Corners since I was able to walk there or take the short drive from my residence but they told me that they had found that customers could not be induced to drive there from other areas of Lakeside. I wish them well wherever they settle but if they are in the village, they really will need good parking at that location.
Re: M & J moving back to town
News flash. M and J are moving across from my gallery. 45 Guadalupe Victoria. Open in a week. Hooray!!!

Re: M & J moving back to town
I regret to say that I think MJ made a mistake by moving to a spot in town where parking can be difficult if that is the case but I hope I am wrong because I like their product and find them personable. I can only speak as an old geezer retired from San Francisco for 18 years hereabouts and in Chiapas who lives on the periphery of Ajijic in Six Corners and, except for passing through, avoid the central Ajijic Village like the plague just because of the traffic and impossibility of finding convenient parking to shop, down a cup or two, gaze at our beautiful sump or even just stroll around mindlessly in what I consider a pleasant urban environment. I would rather drive east through Ajijic to shop in San Antonio or Riberas or even head north to Guadalajara before attempting t stop in the central village especially now with that idiotic and underutilized bike path going nowhere on the carretera municipal morons decreed. Maybe it is time to move full time to Chiapas.
By the way, I like to order pizza on the spot rather than have it dellivered but, I suppose that if you normally order pizza delivered to your residence, perhaps that was a good move for them to a more central location. They bake a good pizza in my experience.

Re: M & J moving back to town
hahaha "municipal morons". Another Bubba phrase well-turned. And well-applied!
Seems to me this pizza parlor could make it work without parking with delivery and with runners if they are judicious in their timing and when they tell the customer to drive by the location. The runners can dash out to the street, sail the pizza through the open window, grab the cash, and the driver can be gone in a matter of seconds. Customers better have exact change!

Re: M & J moving back to town
They did quite well on 16th de Septiembre at the old Ola Ole where parking can also be limited. Most of their business there was walk in traffic which I suspect will be the same on Guadalupe Victoria. It will be on my list once again for "walkable" restaurants. Living in Ajijic centro ourselves we rarely go to restaurants that we have to drive to...…..

If they could get permission to get a "yellow" parking space in front, the dash-by could work well.
