Prescription Meds at Border Empty Prescription Meds at Border

Post by SunsetKid Fri Sep 02, 2011 12:09 pm

Hi

I will be coming to Ajijic at the end of Sept. I take blood pressure meds. Can I bring them across the border? Do I need a prescription in spanish to show the border guards?

Once in Ajijic will I be able to find a doctor to represcribe my medications?

Thanks

If it is just a personal amount I wouldn't be worried about anything unless it was a narcotic. I have never given any medication a second thought when travelling back and forth.

Ditto to what Bob said. And when you get here chances are you can get your blood pressure medicine at a pharmacy without a doctors prescription. the only meds you need a prescription for are controlled substances - valium, codeine and antibiotics.

“blood pressure meds” can be bought over the counter here, just bring your packaging so they can understand what you need. I’m actually O.K. with a generic. (I know others are not) Metobest (metoprolol) works for me, but then again I’m just borderline.
