TelCel Robbery and Assault

Ana, at everybody's favorite TelCel store, was robbed and attacked in the store. Here is the video.

Neither did this, tho it might be a FB issue as it says to try again later. Wouldn't be surprised if FB restricted it. It shows a middle age couple entering the store and scoping out the case. A few minutes later 3 hoodlums rush in and roust and rough up Ana as she tries to escape and eventually ends up being assaulted and under the desk. Meanwhile, the middle age couple clean out the case into a pack and they all run out of the store. Happened 2 days ago, time stamp shows 9AM.

They worked for me. I hope she’s ok. That’s terrible.

The video is working. Wow, it takes 5 jerks to rob a one-woman store. I hope they get what's coming to them.

Look like professionals and don't look local. So much more violence around the country I think the cartels are winning.

Agreed. Cartel don't usually deal with petty cell phone robberies. They usually "off" guys like this for drawing attention to the area.

Yes. As I said, I was referring to "around the country" and I do think the cartels are winning/have won. Twenty three slaughtered in a bar in Southern Mexico another double digit slaughter up in Northern Mexico, more recently in Uruápan - and on and on and on.

No cops. No patrolling trucks. No security. Not evem an attempt.

Well on the other hand where are the cops and security forces during the US's weekly mass shootings?

AMLO declared shortly after taking office that he was ending the "war on drugs".......he is focusing on corruption and trying to build a better security force.

And the cartels actually are involved in "petty" busineses. They are behind the pirated DVD business. I know 2 vendors in Joco, both have told me hair-raising stories.

Exactly, and I see police vehicles all over the area, but to expect them to be in the "right" ´place ar the "right" time at 9AM somewhere in Ajijic, is ludicrous.
99% of the time around here, most people are enjoying a tranquil life, so the "cartels" are not winning anything.
Another chicken little response to a low grade criminal activity.
Some woman had her purse snatched at Walmart by a young thief, another big time major cartel crime wave.

The pirated dvd's and other counterfeit products for sale around here and throughout Mexico is not a "petty" business and I have no doubt the cartel has a hand in it as they do all the local porno and strip clubs throughout Mexico. The Hells Angles run those businesses in Canada.......

Plus all the construction companies and projects that that they have a hand in, look no further than next to the Coca distribution local in SAT.  Hundreds of construction projects in Guad., up around Plaza Andares, fueled by that money as well. The biggest conduit for laundering money.
Cell phone store robbery in Ajijic, part of the picture?......I don´t think so.  You are comparing big league illegal financial activity to the most  amateurish criminal activity that could be found.

Looking at the video they didn't even seem to take much nor empty the register. The worst part was assaulting the woman working there. Hopefully someone will recognise the first two as they spent a lot of time around the camera........friggin douchbags.

I noticed that too. Doesn't look like they even grabbed Ana's purse - or maybe that is what she tried to throw away . . .  I'm just happy she was not killed or beaten.

And in terms of small gangs, I believe they are all connected to the cartels because they need the distribution channels of the cartels and because if they don't join up they are usually killed. Organised crime doesn't like competition. These thugs have their MO down, they weren't even nervous. No, I think this is their MO. Right after the customer exited the store the woman used her phone and glanced at the door.

Adding to Slainte's list: New Pemex stations a kilometer away from the next one, casinos, and beautiful restaurants with 25 well-dressed waiters standing around and not a diner in sight year after year after year.

It almost seems like the first two were supposed to do the job but were getting cold feet so the other 3 came in to show them how it's done. They were probably the look outs that got tired of waiting.

I think the first too pretended to be customers and waited for the only customer to leave then they warned the others to come in ..

Yep could certainly have been that too. I just thought a lot of time transpired between that customer leaving and the other 3 showing up.

they may have mde sure noone was coming.. I wonder if they had someone ourside as well.. what a bunch of creepy morons..

And let's not forget, they had at least one gun. I didn't think the guy with the gun handled it very well either. He sorta fumbled pulling it out and brandishing it. . .

An update from a poster on FB:
"I saw Ana yesterday and she is fine. Her lip was cut when one of the criminals covered her mouth to stop her from screaming. Ana caught the attention of passersby when she threw the cup of pens at the window. this is what caused the thieves to flee. The women in the footage dropped her phone - which Ana has. Ana plans to take this and the video footage to police in Guadalajara. I know that she appreciates all the support and help from the community."

Stuff like this is going to happen from time to time, and it could have been something worse, but wasn´t.
Suck it up and keep on truckin´ Ana, and we don't need to be comparing it to cartel violence, which is serious life and death violence and not petty thieves in a cell phone store.
These were shoplifters with some assault thrown in.

Saw Ana yesterday, she is doing well. She has received flowers and I brought her some goodies from Betty. She is resilient. Turns out this is not the first time for her there, third or fourth, actually. Horrible.
