I want good quality internet communication and english speaking TV. I was not that impressed with Shaw when I was there last year. Any other options?

Slingbox

My connection is to a cable company up in Dallas.
Our Telmex DSL is adequate to support the Slingbox.

Definition of "good quality internet communication" does not register.
You get poor quality by NOB standards, but you can get by.

Shaw, DirectTV, Local Mexican cable or an Internet streaming service. The popular choice for all English seems to be Shaw. Perhaps you were looking at a base Shaw package. Fully loaded you get just about every channel you could possibly think of.

Instead of sending you an email, I might as well post it so anyone interested will at least know it is an option.
A Slingbox is a piece of hardware that connects to a cable box up north. In my case I have a daughter living in the Dallas area that is using Time Warner. The Slingbox connects to their cable box and their internet connection. The Slingbox will allow a person with a computer, anywhere in the world, to access that cable box and control it and watch tv over the internet.
Here's a link to the Slingbox site: slingbox
In our case we have it hooked to a Tivo unit at our daughters, and we can record programs we want to watch and watch them whenever we want.
It's a pretty slick device, and is pretty popular for travelers who want to watch their home tv. In our case it is a better alternative as we are renting and don't want to make an investment in a satellite system until we're sure where we want to live.
The one issue is some cable companies will throttle the upload at the sending end. We don't have that problem so far so it works pretty good.
You can PM me if you have any other questions.

Shaw is good only if you want good reception with a small dish and no rain fade, all the US Networks in both East and West time zones, and all the usual stuff you get on Cable in the USA. If you don't want those things then avoid Shaw. You can have two 8 foot dishes and get Dish and lose the signal when it rains (not much of a problem this year) or with one large dish you can get DirecTV.

We get rain fade with Shaw, and lousy programming as well.

This comment always confuses me. What doens't Shaw have? Sometimes when the storm is on top of me I'll lose Hi-Def but never the SD.

Talk to CP Electronics in Guadalajara. When I got my system it cost about $1000 for everything including installation.

Maybe I'm just not fond of many of the programs on T.V. now. Nor do I wish to pay more than the $90 I'm already paying for garbage. We don't have High definition, and if the storm is on top of us, we lose the whole signal.

Wow. I pay $68 and have most of it in HD. I guess you're saying you don't have a hi-def TV since Shaw includes HD.

David are you a stand alone package or is someone stacked on your account? $68.00 sound pretty cheap unless it is a basic package. My Shaw package runs me about $110 per month (full load with HD).

I have my own account. I wouldn't do it any other way. I probably left out the taxes. Never the less, it's $55 for Digital Favorites and $13 for HD Combo. What more would I need? Remember, most of the HD is free. The HD combo gets me Golf, Speed, TSN2, A&E, AMC, HDNet, all the Score channels, TLC, History, and a couple more in HD

We have the kiddy package since one of our grandkids still comes for a month every year. That costs the big bucks.
We don't have HD, and don't want it either. If the new Netflix thing works out well here, we'll just dump the whole thing altogether.

If you're in Canada go to Best Buy. If you're in the US go to Ebay.
