Yeah, I read that too. It was indeed both weird and fascinating...enough so to read the whole article. Don't know what to make of it other than it is a good example of how the scientific community is bypassing the normal peer-review procedure and sharing information as soon as possible.

One of the reasons why the mortality rate is dropping is because there were a lot of deaths in nursing homes, which in most cases has now been dealt with- nursing homes being investigated, shut down, made to follow safe practices, etc. It remains to be seen if the mortality rate holds steady now, or continues to go down.

I just watched a special TV programme(15mins) about New Corona
virus status in Guadalajara reported by a Japanese
who has been practicing as a doctor at IMSS #46 reg hospital,GDL.

What I was surprised to know that over 21% of infected people were
medical workers, 46,013 as of Jun 28.

Dr. Inagaki also mentioned that due to rather high cost for Mexican
to get virus test delays their hospital visits and high mortality
rate besides obesity.

Yes, it's awful. A couple of months ago I read an article where nurses somewhere in Mexico (I think it was Puebla, but I'm not certain), who were buying their own masks because none were being provided to them, were told by the hospital administrator that they weren't allowed to wear masks because it would scare the patients.
The ignorance is astounding.

ALTHOUGH JALISCO IS NOT IN THE MOMENT OF ACTIVATING IT, ENRIQUE ALFARO ANNOUNCES THE EMERGENCY BUTTON THAT COULD PUT A STOP TO ACTIVITIES IN JALISCO; THE ENTITY IS DOING WELL, BUT IT DEPENDS ON THE CITIZENS THAT IT IS NOT ACTIVATED

Posted by Prensa on Tue, 07/07/2020 - 18:59

- The criteria that will be evaluated for the activation of the emergency button are two: Saturation of the hospital system of 50% and weekly incidence rate of 400 infections per million inhabitants, by date of onset of symptoms

Jalisco is doing well in the reactivation, economic but it depends on the citizens that this continues. If the dynamics of the pandemic that Jalisco has experienced in recent days is maintained and people still do not understand the level of risk posed by breaking the confinement and taking to the streets, impacting the mobility of the city, the lives of Hundreds of Jalisco residents and the need to stop all activities in the State by means of an emergency button, announced Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, detailing that due to current circumstances, the state epidemiological traffic light has lost its function and the law will be applied instead. button that consists of two indicators that will define whether or not to stop all activity in the State.

The Emergency Button, explained Alfaro Ramírez, consists of the definition and application of two new indicators that will be evaluated: Saturation of the hospital system and weekly incidence rate by date of onset of symptoms.

"If the first indicator reaches 50% or the second reaches 400 cases for every million inhabitants, we will have to stop once again. So clear. Today we are at the first indicator at 26% and at the second at 290 ”.

“Today there are no conditions to define a date and therefore a new methodology will be built to make decisions that weigh the risk by type of activity. This will define the opening of cinemas, theaters, bars, event rooms, convention centers, casinos, among others ”.

By saying 'stop dead' we mean a more drastic measure than the one we took in the first stage of social isolation. It would mean shutting down all industry, commerce and services. Only the operation of the health, security and food supply services would be maintained. In this period of total confinement, restaurants could not operate, nor in their modality of home delivery. There would be no public transport service except to meet the demand of health and security personnel. They could not operate the tianguis, nor the banks, nor the churches, nor the government, nor the squares or commercial corridors. They could only open markets and self-service stores during the week only for food sales. ”

"We have to understand that the relaxation of citizen discipline is taking its toll on us. In the last week the average of daily infections is 536. We have been with more than 1600 active cases for three weeks. 25% of the 867 deaths in the state occurred in the last week. The level of positivity increased from 27 to 31%, but above all, we are concerned about the level of wear and tear faced by our medical staff, our doctors and nurses who can do it, they are working tirelessly, "said the president, referring to the fact that There are 444 cases of infected health personnel for attending Covid cases and 1,873 cases of infected health sector workers.

“There are those who are not fulfilling their responsibility as requested: the vast majority of companies and businesses ignored the call to schedule staggered entry and exit times, and that had an impact on the risk level of public transport. For their part, people did not understand that it was necessary to stay at home except for what was necessary and that is why we have seen in the last few days crowded places in the city with people on the go. The economic reactivation only had to impact 7% mobility in our state. What we have seen these days is something else: a clear display of irresponsibility and unconsciousness that has put us all at risk. This cannot continue like this ”, he emphasized.

Why don't they go around and shut down businesses in non compliance and jail/fine those without masks?

Would make a lot more sense. A "shutdown" at this level will punish everyone for the sins of a few.

Unfortunately all laws that exist are because of The Few.
Maybe the threat of "all" will kick peer pressure to the front of the line.

That's what they should have done, but Alfaro left enforcement to the locals.  I read about some stores and even a mall in GDL that got shut down for violating hours, # people inside at one time, masking.

But here in Chapala, everyone knows everyone.  No one in the local government wants to shut or fine someone they know, or is their cousin's brother-in-law.  And with all the corruption here, no local with a good government job is going to risk it by fining the "wrong" person or business.

Alfaro may be playing his last Threat Card and I hope it works.  He mostly talks about how hard health workers have been hit with the virus, and the climb in hospitalizations.  But if we're at 25% capacity now and he's threatening to shutdown at 50%, then it has to get twice as bad as it is now.

Let's hope his threat has an impact and we avoid another shutdown.

Unfortunately, the consequences of these new restrictions have negative consequences on those that obeyed the law.

That would be because Pepcid is a H2 blocker
https://www.drugs.com/drug-class/h2-antagonists.html

It states quite clearly in the article I posted that " Individuals taking heartburn drugs called histamine-2 receptor antagonists (H2RAs) were not at elevated risk, the researchers said."

Sorry, I just glanced through. There’s been things written about proton pump inhibitors that are not appealing to me. I still have a box of them that was prescribed but decided not to take.

No worries. It made me dig deeper. IF I had to take something for indigestion, I would now take Pepcid. Or IF I was taking a proton pump inhibitor, I would be switching to Pepcid if possible.
All information is valuable.

Maalox works for most situations, for me and esposo.

The website "The People's Pharmacy" is very informative on many things and had an in depth article on this subject earlier this week.
