More on the virus - Page 7 Empty Re: More on the virus

I've been walking on the Ajijic Malecon at around 8 am this last week. About half the other walkers, both Mexican and Expat, are not wearing masks. Few of the dogs are leashed. So, could we broadly define "civil unrest" are refusal to obey the laws?

I define it as looting, burglaries, muggings, robberies, car breakins/theft and the occasional vehicle burnings.

Yeah I'll offer him a doughnut as he's breaking into my car or mugging me.

I am only pointing out that the laws are being ignored by many people, even in the very small ways. In my case, walking unsteadily with a cane, an overly "friendly" unleased pup can easily knock me off balance and cause a fall. Who needs to let that happen? I've noticed that there are many older folks trying to get some "safe" exercise walking on the malecon; some more unsteady than I am.

I also agree with CBOB that genuine "civil unrest" usually means much more serious matters.

As for "feeding people", I think most responsible people are trying to help in one way or the other.

A recent poll showed that most muggers preferred smoked salmon.

Seriously though, it's not just about providing the ability to have food which is basic foodstuffs at best. There's no money for phone service or electricity or gas or bus fare or rent. That's why it annoys me when people AND businesses are non-compliant. It affects so many more than just themselves.

I feed 13 of the most food-insecure families we could find in SA once a week.

I am not worried about being a victim.

I was talking with Agustin from Viva Mexico today and he mentioned he is turning people away who are asking for food, he also only has his family working in the restaurant. Driving through SJC things looked like a normal weekend, families and friends enjoying their company, no masks, and motorcyclist with no helmets and driving in the wrong direction on a one-way street. What Pandemic

Interestingly I did see Rubin in the restaurant. Folks may remember him from his days in his restaurant in the Balaneros, and his special weekend Spanish conversation classes. He was celebrating his 74 birthday, wonderful character and very talented musician

A family member in Qatar told me the penalty for not wearing a mask in public is $55,000.00 USD fine and 3 years in prison.

Can we use this as a Xmas Card, that is if we are around at Christmas or the Post Offices will be working.....The Ajijic PO Boxes must be 90% empty/closed/unused, doesn't seem that far back you had to wait for someone to die to obtain a box ....times are changing/changed

Any truth in the rumor that the Hotel Monte Carlo in Chapala is in the process to be converted to a COVID facility?

It has been reported as so, don´t know when it will happen, maybe when the hospitals reach a certain capacity.

Well I guess the good news for the guests is that it is across the street from the Farmacia Guadalajara.

Nice to see there are very few "active cases". Even all of the country only has 28,000 active cases.
