Static stretching is often seen as a sacrosanct pillar of fitness, but the scientific literature shows that this image has been significantly stretched out of proportion

Re: Do We Really Need to Stretch?
I had suffered with lower back pain for more than 5 years when I decided to take up tai chi which is mostly stretching exercises. I did this for about a year and my back pain went away. Thirty years later I’m still pain free. This author’s look into stretching exercises was very myopic and ignored so many other benefits of stretching.

The article deals with the concept of stretching before and after a workout. Tai chi is a workout in itself, I found it good for both the mind and body.
