Wicker or Bullrush Products
Wicker or Bullrush Products
While we have made numerous trips to the Lake Patzcuaro area, I ran across a website for an artist in the area that we had totally missed through the years. The eastern shore of Lake Patzcuaro has a number of towns/villages known for products made from straw or bullrush. This particular artist is based in the village of Ihuatzio, which is on the loop road on the eastern shore.

If the price is right this could be very interesting stuff. Good find.

Parker:
The website does have some pricing but I have a sneaking hunch that one would probably find better pricing on site in Ihuatzio. From our experiences in Tzintzuntzan (just up the road), we have found most merchants to be more than willing to negotiate especially when paying in cash and purchasing multiple products. This source is an easy 10 to 15 minute drive from Patzcuaro:
