A fair number of companies have identified a business opportunity and are marketing RFID blocking wallets. Also at issue is any recently issued Passport and I would imagine Passport Cards.

Combine that with the recent problems new bank machines in Mexico are having with 'chip' cards will make me ask for a non-chip card next time

That might be a workable plan except for the fact that most of the world is headed towards using RFID cards exclusively while banks in the US are dragging their feet due to the conversion costs.

The U.S. still hasn't switched to metric like the rest of the world either. Don't hold your breath.

Folks the US Passports and Passport Cards contain a RFID chip with
a number in it which really doesn't mean anything unless you have
access to a government computer database. It is just a number that
relates to a record on the Govs computers. The chips contain no info
other than this number. Bad guys can do much more with drivers license
or social security number than the number in the passport.
