Another bad crash. . .
. . .Libramiento and carretera fronting WM. Big rig containing sand over turned before - or after - stoving in the driver side of a small black sedan. I came upon it as the cops arrived and didn't see injured or dead people. They must have been there, I didn't see them.
This is the intersection to avoid!

Good grief, we were just there looking at the newly built shrine to remember the last guy who was killed there and the paint still looked wet. Bring on the topes.

Yeah, and the bomberos utility truck just as I was making my way through it all. They're going to have a tough time extricating the truck driver - actually there might not be much to extricate. That's where the impact on the truck was made. Couldn't see anyone in the sedan.

Who was the last guy killed there? I noticed the shrine looked like it was in English.

When are these morons going to learn how to drive? Probably never. I had an interesting or should I say bad experience with one on the Chapala-GDL carretera.

I didn't note the writing on the shrine but it was the most stylized I have ever seen. It really is an amazing work of art and worth stopping to see.Trailrunner wrote:Who was the last guy killed there? I noticed the shrine looked like it was in English.

I thought so too, didn't look like the generic. Will have to stop and read it one day. . .without getting run over hopefully.

Our Casita neighbor witnessed the accident. She says somebody
has to be dead. It was nasty. She came over and got a bottle of
wine. It bothered her a great deal. Sad when people argue with
the laws of physics and trucks always win that arguement.

Got some pictures of it, but can't seem to upload them.
Here's the link to the pictures if you want to see.
Cement truck appeared to be coming off the Libriemento and making a right into Ajijic.
Load of wet cement shifted causing him to flip on his side.
The guy in the car waiting to go up the Libriemento must have sh*t himself.
He was one lucky guy.
I saw him standing by the fence talking to the trafficos and he was really shaken.

Re: Another bad crash. . .
Did she say the truck was coming down the hill? Lost his brakes? Where was the sedan, I wonder. It's hard to tell after a mix-em-up like this one. Probably both drivers lost their lives.

Can't speak for the cement truck driver, but the driver of the car was not killed. He was standing upright talking to the cops.

I saw you taking the pictures Juan, thanks. Glad the sedan driver made it.

I believe that it is customary to haul ass as swiftly as possible away from the scene of the accident if one is able to do so.
There is no tarp covering the cab of the truck, perhaps the driver fled the scene?

Re: Another bad crash. . .
Part of the trouble is that they added all those lanes. It's distracting. The other thing is that the area up there is rough and interferes with breaking action. Add in the grade and it is nothing but trouble.
I don't remember all that trouble until after the mall went in and they made the changes.

Re: Another bad crash. . .
I was at Walmart coming up the incline to turn left on the carretera; the cement truck tried to brake, or at least it seemed so, hit the car, and flipped on its side. I saw someone on top of the truck, I assumed trying to pull the driver out but really don't know. Many police, bomberos, and it did take Cruz Roja a bit of time before they arrived. When that happens, since they are usually so fast, I figure people are dead, and everyone is just waiting for the coroner. Truly, I can't believe that the driver of the car survived, nothing short of a miracle considering how bashed in the side and top were. Came home just shaking. And furious....how many trucks does that make now? And other accidents, and the motorcycle young man who was killed after being plowed into, and his sister badly injured a few months ago. My maid's brother involved in another. A close friend in another. It's just horrendous that neither transito, nor the municipality, nor the state, nor the people responsible for highways, not one agency...is doing something to try to deal with this dangerous T junction. The trucks come down fast, brake, and flip. Anyway, I'm still upset.

Re: Another bad crash. . .
What gets me is the lack of follow up by the authorities to arrest these hit and run drivers, every week in GDL somebody gets run over by a bus,the driver flees but the bus is still there, the owner of the bus knows who the driver was so why don't they go after these guys?Trailrunner wrote:Ms.Thang wrote:I believe that it is customary to haul ass as swiftly as possible away from the scene of the accident if one is able to do so.

Chris:
Great catch! I see it all the time where bus drivers, truck drivers, taxi drivers, etc flee the scene and to me it isn't like these companies don't know who is driving their vehicles! WTF?

Re: Another bad crash. . .
Yup, that's what I saw, just like the photo, and find it absolutely incredible that no one was killed. This was just what I needed to drive by after having just escaped a crash myself coming through Riberas as some moron behind me decided to pass in the oncoming lane, just as another moron on a moto tried to sneak up my right side, and both tried to race in front of my vehicle at the same time, nearly totaling each other! Of course, I would have run over the remains of both. I have never seen such horrible, stupidity behind the wheel as I have around here. Does everyone behind the wheel think they are immortal?

Many commercial companies buy insurance to cover the vehicle and not damages by the drivers.

So why aren't the owners held liable for the damages incurred by their drivers?Intercasa wrote:Many commercial companies buy insurance to cover the vehicle and not damages by the drivers.
