Ajijic - Land of the Fearless Retiree
In case you were wondering whether moving to Lakeside was a wise decision, please note that your major fears in living here according to the most recent posts on this forum are ants, squirrels and underdoor drafts.

Especially sausage sellers who want to be your pal but need a little spare change to see them through the weekend.

Speaking of which, "Oscar the Grouch" a fearless feral tom just kicked the squirrels ass... both are bitching right now...

Things are improving,it wasn't that long ago that the major fear was of getting kidnapped by zetas and being decapitated.hound dog wrote:In case you were wondering whether moving to Lakeside was a wise decision, please note that your major fears in living here according to the most recent posts on this forum are ants, squirrels and underdoor drafts.

Or the anxiety of not having Kirkland Salted Butter in stock. These are honest to goodness stress creators.

Yeah, and some of them are so petty that they worry about home invasions and burglaries, too.

You got that right. Even with everything going on last May, we didn't worry about a GD thing.

Re: Ajijic - Land of the Fearless Retiree
You new guys have it so easy. When I got to Ajijic (1960), you had to go to Chapala to get groceries, if you did not have a car, there were only 6 buses a day to and from Chapala
no banks, no fancy places to eat, the only restaurant/bar was the OLD posada by the pier.

So, how do you like the changes? I've seen it change in the 11 years we've been here.

There's plenty of fear NOB, with all those thousands of "Baby Boomers" retiring, (and going South) the people on welfare and unemployment insurance will have to go back to work, to pay into the government pension funds.Eh

Re: Ajijic - Land of the Fearless Retiree
@Parker,
well it was more of an adventure back then. I was 9 years old when we arrived. The things we worried about the most was losing electric power. It usually took 4-6 hours before power was restored. The average Mexican family did not have a refrigerator. But they got really mad if they could not listen to their soap opera on the radio.
