Oxyclean available?
Is Oxyclean available anywhere? I didn't see it at Costco.

Re: Oxyclean available?
The main cleaning component in Oxyclean is hydrogen peroxide. We buy it by the case @ costco and just fill the reservoir of our washer. Big $ savings and cleaner clothes.

Comments, please? I have tried every variety of OxyClean, and it is no better than soap, as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Oxyclean available?
It works for us but we put the clothes in the washer with soap AND oxyclean, fill the washer, let is swish around to mix everything and then turn the washing machine off and let it sit for about half an hour before starting it up again.

Re: Oxyclean available?
That he was. Letting the OxyClean sit for a while belies the TV commercials, especially the ones where the gals drop a completely stained piece of clothing in it and voila! out it comes white.
I am using those ZOTE soapflakes, along with non-chlorine bleach, and letting everything sit for half an hour, too.
The only two real stain removers I have ever found are barsoap Vanish, which works (while every other Vanish product I've tried does not), and Zout, which you can get in the red sprayon bottle at SuperLake and sometimes WalMart (not cheap, but it actually removes stains).

Re: Oxyclean available?
My wife and I both use borax, she for laundry and household purposes. I have tried it for every thing imaginable.
from wiki:
Ingredient in enamel glazes
Component of glass, pottery, and ceramics
Borax can be used as an additive in ceramic slips and glazes to improve fit on wet, greenware, and bisque.
Fire retardant
Anti-fungal compound for fiberglass and cellulose insulation
Moth proofing 10% solution for wool[13]
Anti-fungal foot soak
Precursor for sodium perborate monohydrate that is used in detergents, as well as for boric acid and other borates
Tackifier ingredient in casein, starch and dextrin based adhesives
Precursor for Boric acid, a tackifier ingredient in polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl alcohol based adhesives
Fluoride detoxification
Treatment for thrush in horses' hooves
Used to make indelible ink for dip pens by dissolving shellac into heated borax
Curing agent for snake skins
Curing agent for salmon eggs, for use in sport fishing for salmon
Swimming pool buffering agent to control the pH
Neutron absorber, used in nuclear reactors and spent fuel pools to control reactivity and to shut down a nuclear chain reaction
As a micronutrient fertilizer to correct boron-deficient soils.[14]
To clean the brain cavity of a skull for mounting
To color fires with a green tint[15]
Was traditionally used to coat dry-cured meats such as hams to protect them from becoming fly-blown during further storage.
Is found in some commercial vitamin supplements
For stopping car radiator and engine block leaks[16]
As an important component in Slime[17]
Is used by the modern Blacksmith in the process of Forge Welding. (Different from fabrication Gas or Electric style welding)

You have to be very careful not to injure the frog.

And again "say what?"...don't get the frog part. Thrush is another word for a Candida (fungal) infection.
You're right Helperguy...it does go against the commercials., but it works for me. Maybe something to do with the hardness of the water here. For stains, try the Zote white Bar Soap.

It's the soft part at the back of the hoof that can be very tender at times. Have to be careful with the back nails and that the shoe is big enough for the hoof. A clean frog prevents thrush.

So first we have to accept the fact that we're not talking about a bird living in the frog...

That's what we are trying to avoid
They all have to live together...the horse, the frog. and the bird. Well no, not the bird.

That's right, because the horse will flip you the bird, first chance it gets.

Re: Oxyclean available?
The best stain remover I have found here is the Zote soap that the Mexicans use. It has removed, dried in grease stains, tomato stains, dye transfer stains etc. Wet the article, rub in some Zote, toss in the washer. The stuff has been magical..even removing stains that are years old and have been washed and dried umpteen times already. Don't even ask why I have stuff with stains that old..I'm an eternal optimist, always thinking I'll find a solution to a favorite article of clothing that is stained. And then I did.

Is there another variety of Zote that Mexicans don't use that is used by other nationalities.
I thought Zote had universal appeal (in Mexico), but I'm no soap expert.

I love zote. It gets out so many stains, including blood. Also, my little niece came to visit and we bought her one of those pretty little white cotton hand embroidered dresses. She got ketchup down the front of it, but we didn't see it right away. My sister was sure it was ruined. I told her to follow me, I'd introduce her to zote. I washed the dress and every trace of the ketchup came out. My sister was certainly impressed.
I'm a klutz and spill stuff on myself all the time. zote saves my clothes!
Also, the different Vanish powders do work like Oxyclean. They whiten and brighten clothes. I never found Oxyclean to actually get stains out that well.
