Motorized or Electric Bicycles Empty Motorized or Electric Bicycles

Post by danschaller Mon Jan 28, 2013 12:47 pm

I've seen a couple of these around town and I met a man at the Angelica's swarm months ago who said he is making one (or more). Anyone have any more information about this sort of vehicle? I'm interested in finding something that doesn't need to be registered and can be written on the cyclopista. I've ridden bicycles for years but a bad knee radically limits the distance I can pedal at any one time.

thanks for any help or info anyone has.

They are definitely out there. I have seen a few in Vancouver, B.C. One was made by one of the larger Japanese corporations, cannot remember which. It was well built, BIG frame, mountain bike tires. (U need well built here), and, I don't think it was cheap. That being said, if you strap a high end recharchable battery system onto a strong frame, Bob is your uncle. Bike wise, the bike guys at seis points, or anywhere else, can fix anything bike. Please PM me . This is all very interesting. Ja, just wait until we put training wheels on these suckers.

Thanks, Hockables. I've been doing lots of online research. I was more interested in any that might be available around Lakeside and hadn't been successful in that specific search. I probably should have been clearer in my question.

It was Trevor with whom Dan was speaking to at Angelica's at the swarm. We were all sitting next to each other.
Anyway Dan, he would be a person to inquire with.

The new solar guys in town sell them. I believe they are behind the pemex just
past the dreaded mall. I drove one dutch made and it was nice but boy do you
pay the price for those Lithium batteries. Basically new they are 3 to 6 $USD
depending on model plus tax. I decided to go gas scooter because of cost. I
wanted to buy electric but the fancy batteries are just too many dollars for
me. They had a demo model for sale a few weeks ago at a good price don't
know if they still have it. I liked the scooter and it was well made. The hub
electric motor was very clever.

Good Luck

Why is that a problem; how many batteries in a typical setup?

It is just too expensive when you can get a new 150cc gas scooter for 21K pesos including tax.
I don't mind paying an green tax but double or triple? Much better off to build your own at this
price. I gotta pass on li ion battery packs for the time being. We might understand the laptop
batteries and charging issues but in larger scale I sure feel more comfortable from a safety issue
with NIMH. Looked at the Dreamliner battery pictures? We don't understand something here.

just saw this post , sorry. Yes, i am the one with a little two-stroke engine in a bike. You can buy the kits online or the guy i bought mine from has a shop next to cafe maganas, and he now sells army clothes i think? He might be able to get you one still. I ride mine on the bike path but also on the road sometimes as they can go up to 25-30 mph or 50kms. If you have any questions just ask, and if you get one i can help you install it.

I plan on moving to Lake Chapala in Aug or Sept 2016. Do you have any current info on electric bikes or gas scooters for sale. Thanks, Bill
