Need computer person/tech
I saw a post (thought it was here) about a computer guy who charged $200 for a house call.
Anyone have that info now?
I deleted one of the two anti-virus programs and some other program (uninstall) and suddenly -- nada.
I tried system restore -- couldn't finish, said possibly due to an anti-virus program blocking something. I turned off the AV program and ran system restore again. Noda again.
I turned off wireless and plugged in the hard wire -- Nada.
I checked the hard wire on another compute -- works fine.
Right now, I'd piss on a spark plug if I thought it would help.
Thanks.

I use Adrian Ramos Marquez. He makes house calls but, I think he charges 250 per hour.

Helperguy, Mike, has always fixed our computer problems. 300 pesos per hour...if he fixes it in less time, it's still 300 pesos. You're paying for his knowledge and that's just fine with me.

Did you restart the computer after uninstalling so there are no start-up programs still running

¿Does that mean you are trying to fix a computer while it's connected to the internet?

Yes, I also did a diagnostic and there are driver issues. I tried SAFE mode also.

It won't connect to the Internet either wireless or hard wire.

Talked to Adrian and he is too far out from me to do a house call.

Don't know how to far out is.......I live in Chapala Haciendas and he has a 766 prefix. Never been a problem, and I've used him several times over the past 18 months.

Adrian has been having some minor car problems. He also goes into Guadalajara once a week and will pickup computer peripherals and electronics for you. He has a shop in Ajijic the street beside Farmacia Guadalajara/Telmex.
He is a polite, honest, and very knowledgeable young man.

Try Alberto 331 016 4739. He has a shop in Ajijic and does travel for service calls. He charges a flat 200 pesos and fixes whatever problems we have. He speaks English, is prompt, and is a nice guy. Who could ask for more?

Thank you!, the Telmex reference confused me.

Re: Need computer person/tech
Talosian is quite possibly correct when he guesses that an AV program may be causing his Internet to not connect. In particular, having two anti-virus programs is not a good thing, because they both operate at a very low level in the OS and can cause problems for each other.
Since other PCs in his house have no problem, it has to be on that laptop. And AV programs, especially the tools that purport to protect your surfing, are often known to be over-protective and prevent you from getting to the Internet at all, thinking your regular forays to the Web are hacking attempts.
There are a couple of security tools for browsers that get installed when you're downloading other software and not paying careful attention to check-boxes. These can result in slowing down your web-page openings, too.

Re: Need computer person/tech
I'm sure Mike is correct on what he says and we'll find out Monday when he comes here.
Just before it happened, I had uninstalled one A.V. program and a couple of other things (deleted) and so my gut feeling is I screwed up and removed something. Every error message I get, and every diagnostic result says it has something to do with my wireless driver(s) but when I check in the hardware manager, it says everything is working as should be.
Another learning experience.
Lucky for me, I have an extra (P.C.) stashed that I'm using.
