No more couting of prior FM2 or FM3 time for permanente

Well the flip flop is back and we were informed that immigration is now not allowing people to count prior years. We will verify this but apparently is the new local policy and they will count prior years if you are FM2 inmigrante asimilado. I will post a clarification once I can confirm with Guadalajara.

Means you only go to permanente without financials if you have a 3 or 4 on the back of your card and renew timely within 30 days of your expiration date.

Spencer, does that mean long term residents who went FM2, last year, submitting financials may not qualify, and be denied documents, and possibly deported......even though they own their home at Lakeside?

BTW, renew timely within 30 days, yet it is taking up to 60 days, so we must pay an additional 900 pesos for travel permit....

Nobody will be deported, a few may be jerked around. People submitting financials have no problem. The news is very new and I need to see if it is a local policy or something statewide or nationwide.

Travel permits yes although from fingerprinting many of our clients have received their new cards in 2 weeks, well the permanente ones in Guadalajara, they arrive there first and we go weekly and receive them.

So you mean they are no longer alowing the combining of time on previous, continuous, variously flavored visas to get to the four year threshold wherein financials aren't required. Is that it?

Rosa, this whole thing is going to be unsettling to many. Many own their homes, have lived here for decade, do not qualify with monthly income or savings account. Looks like a total CLUSTER F@@K!

Spencer is correct.

I had a nice talk with them 2 weeks ago, and I was actually impressed with the knowledge of the main person working there (in Chapala). He said the same thing (and that it was not just a local policy), that the previous years did not count. He said they would have, but because I changed my visa type a year ago, I have to be 4 years on the new visa to qualify. However, I likely qualified with the point system, but that it was not in place yet.
