Shooting in Chapala today Aug. 20, 2014

So I was doing my daily check of casefiles and when I arrived at the courthouse everybody was outside watching down the street and there were police and an ambulance.  Apparently at a bit before noon today on Zaragoza Street down from the courthouse a guy was beating up his wife and the police were called.  The guy pulled a gun and was waiving it around and then the police shot him.

This happened on the block where I live, the couple has the little Farmacia next to the papeleria. His name is Ephrain, not sure what his wife's name is but she was shot. I don't think she is alive but other people say she is O.K. . I saw them drag him to an ambulance, looked like he was bien pedo.

so who was shot... him, her, or both?

He shot her.
The police shot him.
Bien pedo means "really drunk". No one farted.

For a sec I thought Pedro had been shot!

And I always thought muy borracho meant really drunk........???

It's slang for borracho.

There are others who speak much better street Mexican Spanish than I. But I learned that yes a Pedo is a fart but when I say "Yo soy pedo it means, I have a hangover. But when I say El es Pedo it means he is drunk, and that que pedo has many meanings

Someone from Chapala told me  he was dead and she was taken away in an ambualnce but her condition was very serious and they were rumors she had died but no one seems to know or sure. As usual in these situations nothing is very clear exept that the man shot his wife and the police shot him as far as who died and who lived , no one has the same story.

If he was taken by ambulance , it sounds like he maybe alive...

Pete , when you say " yo soy pedo " it does NOT mean you have a hangover. Lord have mercy...are you thinking of " la cruda" ? . If so, "Ando la cruda" will do, I don't think you would say " yo soy" . Wow, you are a real riot, aren't ya?
Pedo is used lots of ways, none of them are nice. Don't say it in polite company (present company excluded, of course). "Que pedo" = what's up? Or in a problematic situation , what's the problem? No hay pedo = no problem , just to name a few.

Try-Ando crudo,or if you're a woman-Ando cruda.

Spell check wanted it to be " and a crud" .i don't know how we ended up with ando la cruda but gratefully I don't ever have to say that.

oh my goodness...glad she's alright, no one deserves to be treated that way.

He was mad because his wife had put him in rehab for alcoholism.

Well, obviously, he had no problem. He was just a solid, centered human being with no anger or impulse control issues.

He had a good wife but she couldn't save him from himself. What a shame. Hope she is able to fully recover.

unfortunately one cop was shot through the hand and no seguro to operate on him.. he has permanent damage to his hand now-- no bone left to middle finger and nerve is gone
