Macro Libramiento (Libramiento del Sur)

I had not heard of this new road project until I read about it in this week's Guadalajara Reporter - so a friend and I decided to check it out on the way back from Guadalajara this afternoon.  The article states it is a 111 km. road that will be an outer perimeter road around the east/south/west side of Guadalajara connecting Zapotlanejo to El Arenal.  It will cross the Chapala-Guadalajara highway just south of the La Barca exit and if you look closely off to the west in that area you can see a partially built portion of this road.  So we went back a construction access road that is only about 200 mtrs. west behind "Los Burritos de Moyahua" restaurant and were able to get up onto the eastern end of the partially built road.  You can drive along it for about 2-3 km. as it passes to the south of Lago Cajatitlan before it comes to a complete end.  

It is going to be a very well built and beautiful new road if it ever gets completed - solid base and concrete surface much like the newer toll roads I have been on.  This will make getting across to Lopez Mateos Sur or on over to the roads to PV a breeze for those of us in the Chapala area!!!

You do understand that this will also be a toll road.

There's a temporary stop on much of the construction due to more environmental and land title conflicts.

Has anyone figured out where it will connect with the road to Lagos de Moreno on the east side of GDL yet?

It looks like it will connect to the 80D (toll road to Lagos de Moreno) about halfway between the last two toll booths - slightly east of where 80 Libre passes under 15D (the toll road to Mexico City) and west of the 80 & 90 junction on the west end of Zapotlanejo.  If you look to the south while driving through that section of 80 Libre you can see some bridge structures being built near the highway.  

This might explain why there was no access to 80D from the new connection to the Periferico around the east side of the city.

Can we be so lucky to live so long?

Strangely, if you take the new periferico from just south of the airport exit, there is a ramp now to the 80D in that direction but coming back I saw no way to get to the periferico FROM the 80D.
