If you are talking about "the meat guy" just north of the crucero on Highway 15 headed toward Guad, he's only open on the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) to my knowledge. He doesn't do bbq, per se, but he does do meat on the grill.

The easiest way to reach him, coming from points east of Joco, is to take the Joco bypass before you enter Joco "proper" and head back toward Joco when you come off the "libramiento" (bypass). If you go through Joco centro, it's a little more difficult to give instructions.

Jocotepec barbecue
I just talked to cbob about your post and he says that you probably don't even know where Jocotepec is since you hardly ever get out of Chapala.  If you need directions, please let me know.

My father taught me that when it comes to teasing and insulting people if you want to dish it out, you better be prepared to take it. Some people are just too sensitive and their little feelings get so easily hurt even though they love dishing it out. Someone better call the whaaaaabulance.

thanks lucky and chango [fer yer ist post]! try that place in the pic if you like yer meat done in a bbq pit. the pit is about 6 ft' long and smells real good. you probly know that there is a terrific vampiro place in san luis soyatlan lucky. there is a nice taco al pastor place off the plaza in tizapan. it's only 100 miles round trip from chapala. unfortunately our mexican rider friends usually only get sunday off fer rides but some of us retired retreads need ta get out more during the week ta blow the carbon out.

Papa Chango, that's exactly the photo i was looking for when Pedro asked about the "BBQ place" to make sure that he meant what my friends and i here in Joco call "the meat guy's place." Thanks for posting. And if any of you are going there, may i recommend the lamb.

Also note that the meat guy generally only serves meat and drinks.....very little, if anything, in the way of "sides" (e.g. usually no beans, rice, tortillas). Haven't been out there for about a year, but i doubt that's changed. It's a carnivore-fest!
