A Word of Caution Empty A Word of Caution

Post by Sunnyvmx Sun Nov 23, 2014 4:06 pm

Tis the season so be especially careful. An expat was sitting on the bus with her purse beside her. It was only closed with a flap and not secured. A man sat down beside her and asked her to open the window. While she attempted to do what he asked, he stole her wallet. At this time of year we are warned about pickpockets so take this message to heart.

Good advice. The fiesta's at this time of year bring all sorts of criminals to town. Be extra vigilant with your home, personal property and vehicle.

Carry a throw away wallet!! I have lost four or five of them over the years in Europe. You can even leave a little message for them in the wallet. LOL

A Word of Caution Empty Attempt at Black and White Coffee

Post by riogrande888 Mon Nov 24, 2014 5:25 pm

A man tried to take my wallet from an outside table at Black and White Coffee. He was unsuccessful, but I second the opinion of keeping a close eye on your things; I was lucky!

Keep your money in your pocket. Bait them with a bag of fresh dog turds (readily available). You should be able to catch them in the nearest washroom.

A Word of Caution Empty Shopping Wed. Tiangis

Post by Sunnyvmx Thu Nov 27, 2014 6:14 am

I was with a friend at the Wed. tiangis in Ajijic yesterday. She was pulling a two wheeled cart with a fabric bag that had a flap secured with two fastenings. While shopping in a stall, she took her hand off the cart and someone snatched it. She located it a few stalls down with the flap open. Thankfully her cart was empty and there was nothing to steal so they left it. I often put my heavy bag down when I'm looking at something to purchase. I'm careful to put it tightly between my feet and I wear my small purse around my neck and in front of my body. You can't be too careful.

Very good advice. I carry minimal ID and money in a TravelSmith bag which I wear around my neck and sometimes under my shirt.
