A question about filling in the tourist form on the plane.

So a friend has booked a place to stay for a week, but wants to look around in that week to find a place to stay for a couple of months.

How much time should he ask for on the form?

They do not care. I once filled in the form for 16 days, and the guy said that's not long and changed it to 180 days.
They do not look at your plane ticket in immigration. Beer
