Border Closed to Import of Vehicles

Has anyone heard of the border being closed to importation of vehicles from the north?
I have been talking to a broker in Nogales and he has written me they have put a hold on all imports of vehicles.

Where have you been? Importation/Nationalization by individuals has been a dead issue for months. Maybe it is forever; nobody knows.
However, if you are a tourist, or a residente temporal visa holder, you may temporarily import, as usual. Those who have residente permanente visas are having to remove their US/Canadian vehicles from Mexico.

You can import 2006-07 model years in Texas today.

Details, please. Lots of folks would like to know.

Friend of mine just got back from Laredo, he called Grupo MCA and they are nationalizing ES/Canadian cars up to 2007.

Same info as I published in December more or less, now they say they can consult smog tests online through customs agents

The total border is not closed to imports. Salinas Imports in Pharr has been importing 06-07 cars for over a month. If you meet the requirements then it is SOP.

I just returned today after taking another USA car out of Mexico. I spoke with a couple of brokers in Nogales and TJ. They are waiting for things to open up. It is only the border crossings in the Western part of MX that aren't importing. That is where the customs brokers, Aduana officials, and Judges that issued the amaparo's (all of them for mordida)got busted last September.
