Frog restaurant Chapala?

Does this restaurant exist? Does one of the owners have a health issue? TIA

Zapote is a fruit,sapo is a frog/toad.

Yes, El Zapote is located on the north side of Hidalgo in the second block east of Madero.
I'm not aware of any health issues by the owners.

My understanding is that zapote is another word for toad as rana is another word for frog.

They are closed Tuesdays so if you went by Tuesday you wouldnt find them open. I made that mistake last Tuesday.

Well, after re-reading the info I received, I see that it isn't the owner. Here is what I received and was just wondering if it is legit - the person I received it from who we know quite well, indicated that the person he received it from is someone known to him in Dallas. Here is the note:


The Frog restaurant in Chapala, 3 blks off main st, there is a cook, Francisco. He is a dear,most generous , helpful person. When I was there in April he had given his room to a Family in need, husband broke leg , wife was a kitchen prep, had 2 kids and no where to go . Francisco slept on floor 2 mos . He and Robert took care of them . Shortly after Francisco had heart attack and had stent as has90% blockage. He has been on a diet and lost over100 lb. he needs 2 more and they won't do it unless he pays$3000. They are raising 7yo twin boys. They also feed all their workers and their family. Both of these men are always helping teens and the needy.
I don't know if u hv a go fund me page there ...perhaps u know of some assistance for Francisco. He and Robert Bernal operate the restaurant. They aren't making big money there. I don't know of a more deserving person in need. He has done all that was required by the Dr. All he needs is the money.
We here can't believe his situation. After all our Hosp. Care for all. I thought perhaps u might hv knowledge of a source of financial help for him. Let me know if u know of a group there they could contact.

Nope,it's a fruit.
But if you want good (ancas de rana),frog legs,try the lakeside restaraunts in Teuchitlan.

there are even black zapote but they are fruit as well.

Is he on Seguro Popular? He needs to register and they can operate on him for free from what I heard. He may have to raise some money for the medecine as they are sometimes out but he should be able to have the surgery for free.

Francisco is a delightful person. Help if you can, or just patronize the restaurant more often. The food is great.

Think this place means frog as they have a picture of a frog on their sign, maybe he was chewing on the fruit but I dont recall seeing that.

I thought that picture was a toad, un sapo. No?

Sapo means Toad or whatever that thing on their sign is. People often incorrectly spell it with a "Z". So a really big Zapo is a Zapote
(or Sapote).

And alligator has a wider head and jaw where a crocodile's jaw is more tapered.
