Elegante Restaurant on Constitution

Does anyone know when this new restaurant will open? TIA...

We dined there for the first time last evening. It was superb! We've been missing a place of this quality for some time. Everything from our greeting to the delivery of the check was excellent. The food and service were superb. This place is a keeper. Perhaps a bit more expensive but well worth it. And, the Prix Fixe 3 course dinner is only $225, a real bargain! The elegance is understated, all black and white, nice table ware, full cocktail bar, and some of the best wait staff around. Many you'll recognise immediately. We were made to feel welcome upon arrival and sent on our way well satisfied. We'll be back soon!

So......what did you have to eat and perhaps a comment on what it was like? Were the chairs comfortable?

I don't mind at all paying big bucks for good food but I hate getting raped on the drink prices. I refused to ever go to #4 because of that. What were the drink prices like?

(#4 used to charge $110 for a rum & coke)

Ha! I shared your view of #4! I was pleasantly surprised that our Cosmopolitans were only $65. Wine list is small and priced OK. We had one of the most expensive, L.A. Cetto Nebbiolo @ $380.

The chairs were very comfy. I had the Rack of Lamb which was superb, best i've had in 12 years here. Likely New Zealand lamb. Spouse had the Tuna which she said was excellent. Both plates showed beautiful presentation and included good sides. She had Ceasar, I had Garden salad. Mine was enough for 2, a nice mix of veggies and lettuce garnished with pumkin seeds and dried cranberries with a raspberry vinegarette dressing. She had Tiramisu and I had the Creme Brulee' both were excellent.

My mouth is watering. I note the drinks are quite reasonable, and a good selection.

I'd like to see the wine list expanded but it's a good start and the prices are reasonable on everything IMHO!

Is the salmon wild-caught or farmed?

The chef told me he get's it from Fred of Slammin' Salmon, who is at the Tuesday market. I've spoken with Fred and he claims it's wild caught.

Ditto farmed salmon. Their wine list needs some work but there maybe some decent Mx in that list. Barefoot anything - yech. otherwise yum.

I was dismayed by the Barefoot selection too! Other, a good start. We had the L.A. Cetto Nebbiolo which is delicious.

We dined at Elegante again last evening, a group of eight for a birthday. There was a delay in getting our drinks but otherwise everything was very good. Each course was delievered to all eight simultaneously, a feat rarely seen here! Every diner was pleased with their appetizer, meal, and desert. I really like this place!

It sounds like a keeper. It is nice to have a place for those special occasions.

With a 3 course Prix Fixe menu for $225 Pesos it's not jus for special occasions!

What were the last 3 courses you had there?

It would be nice if they were open Sundays; our normal night out. Most restaurants are, with weekdays off.
