Going into U.S. Consulate Empty Going into U.S. Consulate

I am going to the U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara next Wednesday to renew my passport.

Since security is so tight I was wondering just what I can take through security.

I plan on taking my application, my wallet with credit and debit cards and photo I.D. and currency for FexEx. Am I forgetting anything and will there be any problems with security bringing this limited stuff in?

If you have had previous experience with the security at the consulate I would appreciate your advice!

Thanks

You might want to check at the Lake Chapala Society office first and find out when the Consul is coming there next, at which time you could get your passport renewed without taking a trip to Guadalajara. LCS in on 16 de September in Ajijic.
Their offices are open at 10:00.

IMO, it's so much easier to take the bus and then a cab to the consulate. Standing in line at Banamex and paying $200 for a check is ridiculous and if it's one peso off, back to Banamex to pay another $200 for a new one. You would be amazed at just how often this happens and if, by the time you get your replacement check the consulate staff has left...oh well.

Hi Kalafia,

Can you please tell me how long it took for you to get your new passport via FedEx? Do you feel I should expedite them?

Also, do you know if it is possible to stop them from punching a hole in the current passport? I stil have three months left under the six month rule and may need to travel.

Thanks,
Fred
