10 digit calling supposed to start Aug. 3

In previous publications Mexico has said 10 digit calling will start Aug. 3.  All numbers called in Mexico will be 10 digits including the area code and phone number.  This means the 01 for long distance and 044, 045 from a land line to a cell phone will be dropped.

There was no mention about it in Aug. 2 Guadalajara Reporter, so if it goes as stated, lakeside numbers will be 10 digits like 376-xxx-xxxx.

We will see.

I have been dialing cell numbers without the 045 on my landline for several weeks now. My provider is ILox.

I listen to a Mexican radio station in the car and there was a PSA from the Secretary of Telecommunications about today so presumably they're still on track.

thanks for reminding us that Saturday the 3rd is the day for Telmex to go from 7 to 10 digits. I remember when it happened up north. It was a little confusing at first, but now, no big deal down here, I hope.

Well, tried it just this morning. From a local landline, to a local landline, with 376 added. Does not work. Yet.

It did for me.

I am calling cell phones from my Telmex landline without the prefix 045 and 044 for weeks now. And the area code of 376 numbers without the 01 also.

well from CHiapas landlne you still dial o45 as of today...
