American Passport Renewal

I notice that the American Consulate does not send out reps to chapala/Ajijic any more to assist Americans with their passport renewal. How does one go about that these days. Thank you.

10 seconds to do what? Get your passport renewed? I'm sure that must be a new record of some kind!!

Emergency passport services are being offered by appointment only. Please do not walk in to the Consulate. Please email ACSGDL@state.gov if you need emergency services in Guadalajara.

I talked to Spencer (American lawyer here in Chapala) and he mentioned that the government passport office in the States is closed due to Corona. The American consulate in Guad, however, has been issuing temporary passports, good for 12 months, but is temporarily out of them. My passport doesn'nt expire until the 24th of Sept. and he told me to return to his office the middle of Aug. when the temps will probably be available again.
