Passport Renewal

I will be going to LCS next week to meet with the consulate officials and renew a passport. We have filled out the forms, have photos and the expiring passport.

How does Uncle Sam like to be paid? Cash, credit card, check?

You must pay with a special bank check. The only place I know of that issues them locally is CI Banco, which is in the Centro Laguna Mall across from Wings Army.

Damn. I knew you were going to ask that. I can't remember. It's not what you'd expect.....not the Department of Sate or even the US Treasury, it's something weird. They know at the bank, just tell them it's for a US passport. Maybe give yourself a few days leaway, that way if somebody new is working there, or there's any doubt, you'll have some time to call the Consulate and ask, etc.

I still have another week before the consulate folks are at LCS.

surely you yanquis have access to the appropriate gummint sites like us canuckleheads do. that's how i found out to pay my gummint $103 by visa.

Wrong, again. The US State Department website would lead you to believe the check should be made payable to the Department of State. That is incorrect. Because this renewal application is going through the US Consulate in Guadalajara, the check needs to be made out differently.

I want to say it was something like "US Transfer Agent" or something weird like that. Again, they know at CI Banco.

I've been SOB for 5 years and saw some bills the other day. Leave them alone for a few days and they will screw up anything. Worst looking money in the world now.

Yes some folks have had their photos refused when getting them from Farmacia Guadalajara. Therefore some or many of the facilitators recommend other locations for getting their photos.
