Proper left hand turn exit from Wal-Mart

I see they are finally putting one in at the light. That is a great move and long overdue!!

Hairiest left turn ever! We’ve been forced to rely on Basic Mexican Etiquette to make this merge-and-turn, so a new light will be a godsend. Is the new light in service already? Did someone hire mariachis to make it official? We need a proper inauguration!

Yes they put in a whole new exit dead center to the intersection. The lights have not been installed yet. They are still working on it.

I was looking at it yesterday and wondering if it was also going to be a direct shot entry coming in from the libramiento. Wouldn't that make a fine mess.

It is a direct shot from the libriemento which is why it will require proper lighting system.

There looks to be two turns... one going in only from the carretera if you are coming from the west, on the west side of the AutoZone, and a new one for exits only coming straight out of Walmart, on the east side of Autozone. But hard to tell with the construction mess.

One is the entrance/exit for Autozone and the other is the entrance/exit for Wal-Mart. Huge improvement versus making those illegal left turns from the old entrance/exit. I have no idea why anyone would not think this is an improvement!!

The traffic wasn´t that bad in the beginning (first place).  Like everything else, you have to make changes as new situations develop.

I'm sure they will run center blocks down the middle of the caraterra in front of the old entrance/exit so turning left out of there will not be possible.

I would hope so, driving anywhere in Mexico There are steeper declines, even in Ajijic, just a few bocks west. Ask Pete J.

Me neither!!............but with all the traffic engineers on this board, there will be someone.  Mainecoons for sure will be bitching, just like he always does about the other traffic lights, the new highway/bicycle road/path and anything else they don´t consult him about.

Everyone bitched when they moved the lights further apart in front of Superlake. That has improved the traffic flow through there.

If they put center blocks it may also mean people coming from the East will have to enter at the new light too.

I wonder how many accidents are going to occur with the 'I gotta be first' crowd who pull into the lane closest to Walmart thinking they can speed past everyone only to dead end at the entrance and have to push their way back into the thru lane. Or will they just jump the curb - damn the pedestrians they are only minor speed bumps - and carry on.

It is an unfortunate and poorly thought-out concrete addition. Regardless of the "I gotta be first" gang, we used to have several options. For example, those in the right lane were often actually turning into WalMart. That is no longer possible; they will have to wait for traffic to pass just so they can get in the left lane and then immediately turn right, causing further delays. And there were many who drove through onto Libertad to get down into San Antonio. Now they will be causing backups. And because literally no one can move unless someone lets them in, the traffic will be further backed up to the lights and beyond. That simple addition is going to screw an already-screwed traffic situation.

There isn't a single thing this new planning has done to improve traffic. Absolutely the opposite. And that is why, in the down season, in the middle of a Covid pandemic, we have more traffic problems than ever. It has nothing to do with increased numbers of vehicles. It has everything to do with the shitty routing of existing vehicles.

Should be an overpass, with sidewalk. Chapala would not allow Walmart to put up a giant sign in their parking lot, maybe they would allow a sign on the overpass as long as they donated generously to its construction?

Turning left out of the old exit was always illegal. So you would rather have everyone turn right and then pull u turns further east? This is now going to be how it should have been from the start.

I never saw a sign that said that turn was illegal, nor do I recall reading anything like that since the place opened.

Its illegal to turn left across a solid yellow line. The transitos used to sit across near HSBC and pick people off. They have since given up on it.
