Emma's Deli in Ajijic

We love their divine Reubens (on their homemade Rye) as well as their Grilled Chicken Sandwich on best ever baguette.

Today we decided to mix it up and try something different.

A Caesar salad topped with grilled chicken; and a hot dog. The dog was was a huge chili-cheese dog (all beef) on a great soft seeded roll and comes with choice of potato salad (best in town) or cole slaw or fries. The amount of chicken on the salad was more than generous and the salad itself was fresh and well dressed.

Nice table in the garden; they have upgraded their patio umbrellas since our last visit, now all are very large giving excellent shade.

With one agua mineral and a glass of Pinot Grigio (most house wines are 60, the pinot was 70) the tab was 315p.

fyi, their fresh (still warm) bagels are ready by 10:30, if you call and reserve the day before. They also have Rye and Challah made in-house. When we left they had a number of Rye's for sale on the counter as you enter.

They are open weekdays for lunch.

Back today for our regulars, grilled chicken on baguette and a pastrami Reuben.  We each took half of ours home.  

Btw, when we left at 1 today they had just put out bagels in 6 packs. Plain, sesame and everything. Still WARM!!

Back to Emma's today for a chili-dog (kosher beef).  Something in the chili that gives it an East Indian flavor.  Really delish!  And huge!  For 115p.  They also have a chili beef burger.  

Gee, that looks good. I don’t see beans which I hope they don’t put in the chili.

No frijoles in the chili.

I like the thinner fries too better than the big fat kind.

Aside from the always delicious sandwiches: for a wonderful sinful treat, try their New York style cheesecake when they have it! YUM!!

I ordered from them yesterday. They delivered and, by far, it was one of the best meals we have had here.   Margaritas were also great!

Well, Bisbee you convinced us. We will be stopping by there to check it out when we visit LCS, God's waiting room, and a lovely place to wait.

Today at Emma's, a "Rachel" a variation of the Reuben...this one is with turkey (fresh real turkey not turkey loaf) and cole slaw.  Tasty!  Also a dozen fresh-from-the- oven Everything Bagels to take home.

Bisbee, you are right on about Emma's. Good food at a reasonable price. I had the cheeseburger and fries and my wife had the Reuben. She had tea and I had a Coke Lite. Bill came to 360 pesos. I wanted to order the apple pie with vanilla ice cream but they were out. Apple shortage maybe.

Been getting chili-cheese dogs past few months; almost swimsuit weather so today I had their Caesar salad (with grilled chicken).  

When I complained about the local way of serving whole Romaine lettuce leaves in Caesar salad rather than torn into pieces, a visitor reminded me that the salad originated in mexico and that whole leaf is the original and proper presentation method. Any comments?

Emma's has their French Dip sandwich on special this week. Tender beef and ton of caramelized onions on a great baguette. Tasty au jus. When it's gone, it's gone.

We took you tip last year and went there on several occasions. The food is good and reasonably priced.
