I'm sure all the other merchants in Chapala are just thrilled.......

Last post 20 minutes ago said the Chapala main intersection is still closed, police on the scene but no arrests.

If you want to see ballsy go to Chiapas , in the last demonstration of merchants the merchants started shooting machine guns in the air, in the middle of the market... It last several hours but the news announced 3 shots in the air.. the usual..

Can confirm as our BnB was 4 blocks from the market. The fist volley lasted maybe 30+/- seconds. But the second lasted over 3 minutes. The one way street in front of where we were staying was crammed with people on foot and vehicles escaping. The looks of terror on faces were real and panic prevailed! The manager closed the large wooden entry doors and suggested everyone stay in for the night. He let people who had taken refuge out a side entry.

By next morning, it was being minimized by declaring it no big deal because they were just shooting up in the air and not at people!

When one shoots bullets into the air, they don't stay there!
Believe it or not, they do come down!

nlu you got that one right but the government in Chiapas does not seem to get that yet.. Actually they do not get a whole lot of things..

So what can the shops and malecon vendors expect after Semana Santa when they start the two year project to replace papers with cement? I would guess that will really help sales during those two years?
