GreaseMonkey Empty GreaseMonkey

Post by steve12542 Sat Mar 24, 2012 9:16 am

I've been using Greasemonkey for Foxfire (Tampermonkey for Chrome) for a few months. This extension is helpful in browsing, so I'm passing it on. Hopefully, a few of you will find it useful.

What is Greasemonkey?
Greasemonkey is a Firefox extension that allows you to use small scripts that alter the web pages you visit to make them more readable and usable.

To see how it works
Install the extension into your Firefox browser
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/ or
Install the extension into your Chrome browser
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dhdgffkkebhmkfjojejmpbldmpobfkfo

Try this one script:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/42312
Then go to Wikipedia and do a search. All the useless parts of Wiki will disappear.

Others scripts you may find useful:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/9310
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/48293
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/26062
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/13333
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/30096
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/61073
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/19095
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/2254
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/40822
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/125862
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/119851
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/121943
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/94615
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/12897

To find other scripts for websites you visit, just go to the http://userscripts.org/ page and search for your website:
Example: search the word "flickr" and you get this http://userscripts.org/scripts/search?q=flickr&submit=Search
Read what a script does and see if you think it will help. They are easy to install and uninstall. So, just give anything interesting a try. If you don't like it, uninstall it. (To uninstall scripts in Firefox: Go to Tools, Add-ons, User Scripts and hit Remove.)

If you don't want Greasemonkey to change a page, you can either toggle it on/off using the icon in the right top corner or disable specific scripts.
(To uninstall Greasemonkey: Go to Tools, Add-ons, Extensions and hit Remove)

Hope you find this info helpful.

PS: For you Facebook users - try Social Fixer at http://socialfixer.com/ It's free and will give you much more control over your Facebook activity.

Administrators: If this is in the wrong section or inappropriate, feel free to move or remove it.
