Nostalgia - Spring Break 1962
NBC found some old film of a report done on Spring Break 1962:
Spring Break 1962 Part 1
Spring Break 1962 Pt 2
Any bets whether the Dawg was in attendance?

Dawg was among the faithful at Panama City Beach in Florida three hours south of Dawg´s Alabama home town throughout the early 60s without fail and was known for his Busch beer can pyramids and Dawg can report the following information without fear of rejoider:
* It is exactly 130 miles from Greenville, Alabama to Panama City Beach or, to express this distance more practically, it is exactly two cases of Pabst Blue Ribbon among four reprobates engaging in this quest for pure white sands, crystal clear aquamarine waters, cold (albeit 3.2% Florida mandated near beer) suds and, if luck was with us, women of increasingly looser moral constraints as the night wore on and Reverend Billy Bob´s admonishons regarding the evils of unwanted pregnancy faded into the ether. Dawg realizes that, these days, kids head for Cancun to escape the age restrictions preventing their purchase of alcoholic beverages when those kids are below the age of 21 but Dawg has no recollection of having ever had any difficulty in purchasing alcoholic beverages in Alabama and Florida after the age of 13 and this was a good thing in those days as Panama City was one wild-assed place while Cancun was a crocodile infested mangrove swamp as far as the eye could see.
* Alabama and Florida are sister states, both with fine and lesser things thereabouts but there is one area in which Alabama clearly excelled in the 1960s. Alabama beer was 5% alcohol and Florida beer was 3.2% alcohol. We drank Early Times Bourbon and Budweiser but our wine selections were limited. Until Dawg married a Frog in the 1970s, I always thought wine was made from apples.
