This always steams me...

Some posters on TOB are always talking about how much more traffic that site has compared to this one. How many years has that site been online & how long has this site been set up? At least here, the mod isn't trigger-happy with the ban button like one of them over there who's a power-mad little twerp with a Napoleon complex & THIS site is NOT set up to make $$$.

TOB is strictly a clique, meant for newcomer's as long as ??? Then there's buddy, buddy, backroom we are it on a stick club. personally they can be at the least inconsistant. Cigar anyone?

Oh hell I bet I'll be banned for posting this. I re-registered and haven't posted nada and never will because I do not like the way they run the board. I will never refer anyone for real estate or rental's. The way the board is run speaks volumes for their business practices IMHO...but what do I know!

Apparently they have kicked quite a few people off this week and also locked any topics which they do not like. One of the old geezers refered to this site as the shenanigan's board!

The double standards used over there are incredible. The old farts over there are so prim and prissy and can say whatever, unlike any "newbies" New rules were recently posted about rental postings but are able to be ignored by certain members. Interesting.

When I bought the house I recently purchased I specifically skipped any listed by that real estate firm because of their nasty practices to potential customers on their website & I'm quite happy with the house & realtor I used.

itsme, thanks for the original heads up on the Shenanigans crack, seems I forget more than I remember now days. I agree with all you said and will pay particular attention to your postings from now on.

As a newbie coming to Lakeside I have found TOB very helpful, especially since they tightened up on the bickering that used to be rampant. What I don't understand is why there is so much time spent here discussing what is going on over there. Each board that I read regularly has a different tone. Seems to me there is room for everyone without so much back biting. What purpose does that serve?

You're right PDX Chapala.com is very helpful for the newbee. This board is for folks who live here and experienced visitors. The reason you are hearing TOB getting dis-ed is their latest round of banning people from their site. Long time residents are pissed that they are being suspended or exiled without warning and the mod(s) seldom if ever respond to PM's to answer why. It's that kind of behavior that generates the reaction here. And it's not "...so much time spent here..." is it? One or two threads?

So when are you coming down? Where will you be staying? We have a group of folks on the Welcome Wagon thread who would be happy to chat with you and enjoy a libation or two.

Thanks oncesubtle, for the welcome. We will be down for six months, arriving end of September with the possibility of making it more permanent. At least long enough to get out of this bloody rain here in the NW. And I like the sounds of that libation or two. We will be looking for a home to rent, hopefully by Oct. 1st.

As for "the time spent here" on the subject, when this board got back up and running, most of the early posts seemed to be about how bad TOB was. Well at least there was one poster in particular, that I don't see here much anymore, who went on and on ad nauseam. And I have been following the hoopla, but was just disappointed to see it start up again here.
Hope all are ready to move on.

The name of this particular part of the site is "Casual Chatter About Anything" which includes discussing other forums if the posters want to. At least here, the threads don't get deleted when TOB is mentioned unlike your favorite site.

You're absolutely right, Carry Bean. I had forgotten the intention of this section is for 'small' talk involving those familiar with one another and not meant to be informative. More like a few friends blogging, actually.
