oncesubtle wrote:I'd say it's fisherman #1's fish as he would have the right of way with a fish on if no one else was hooked up. Another point would be fisherman 1's hook was probably in the fishes mouth and number 2 probably snagged the fish or line and either way, no way. Of course being behind a few beers, which I'm confident you guys were, the fish would belong to the bigger guy.
O.K. another scenario; #1 hooks the fish and breaks his line at about the same time #2 hooks on. There are just too many ifs, No? That’s why I’m for who parks it, gets it, there really needs to be minor rules however who puts it on the grill first gets my vote.

Good for you Bob, but who got it on the “Barbie” first, I’m still deciding who I would like to fish with.

Nah, it was probably around half of that. The sail doesn't weigh anything. Those yellowfin were between 5 and 10 kilos.

Hook #1 was in, he wins it! great story!
Solovino! Nice to see who we're talking too! Cute kid! We caught some of those smaller things in Manzanillo in 2004...probably could have done better had I not gotten sea sick and insisted they go back to land! lol

Twas there a couple of minutes ago and now it is gone?
For Jim: how about trout fishing in Kashmir? Or do you even know where that is? FYI: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kashmir
Daily fishing license provides one with a private exclusive section of a river for a day. Awesome trout fishing!
200 days a year? BS!

How do you know he would have brought the fish in? Maybe the confusion is what really brought on this win for the fishermen. Once again too many ifs, he who lands it, gets it, but sharing credit is a much more noble. This makes me proud.

This is true. The guy who lands it, should win it. But his heart musta sunk a little to see the other guys hook in there, still attached to the pole, and his no where's to be found! haha I know I would have felt that way! That fish jilted me! So fry him up and eat him! That they did! de acuerdo! Very noble! Team effort to land that baby! He was no sucker either!

Re: ANYONE INTERESTED IN FISHING
It appears that it has taken the better part of a week for you to come to and attempt to respond to a post made last Tuesday? Could have been the last six days were part of those 200 days a year? Give it a break! I haven't fished in probably ten years but am cognizant of my prior experiences. I don't fish here in New Mexico because so many lakes have been bastardized by idiots who introduce garbage warm water fish into prime trout waters!

Re: ANYONE INTERESTED IN FISHING
I agree with you about the self serving idiots....using live bait in controlled waters....screws up fishing for generations. On the flip side, yes I was fishing @ Lake Agua Milpa, 40 clicks out of Tepic, still in pursuit of my 1st double digit large mouth bass.
Honestly, I fished over 200 days per year, when I retired, and moved to my home @ Lake Roosevelt...late 2000 thru 2005, small town of Lincoln, Washington. My home , from driveway to launch was approx. 500 yards. Lake Roosevelt is open year round....and the nearest stop light was 45 miles away.
Lake Roosevelt starts @ Grand Coulee dam and is the Columbia River feed from Canada....over 150 miles, they have houseboat rental available....including hot tub, by week or month. I was fortunate to find this area.....Rainbow to 7 plus pounds, small mouth bass to 5 pounds, Kokanee to 5 pounds, Walleye over 30 inches....I do have photo of 35 inch walleye caught by a friend......this is a great place to visit

Re: ANYONE INTERESTED IN FISHING
Sorry Jim but I lived about 10 years north of Spokane, WA and that general area was the epitome of "redneck fishermen" introducing non native species into what could be pristine trout fishing waters. Unlike Colorado where they could have gone to jail for performing in a like manner, they knew damned well that the chances were minimal. On the other hand, northern Idaho seemed to be somewhat immune to this type of activity. Granted I was spoiled by living in Steamboat Springs, CO and Aspen, CO but fishing for native species is a resource that shouldn't be messed with! New Mexico used to be really diligent about preserving the native species in certain waters but the influx of "rednecks" has overwhelmed the enforcement options.
There is nothing better than fishing in an environment that has been preserved the way it should be!

Re: ANYONE INTERESTED IN FISHING
Nice lake trout Bob.
I'm curious. Houseboat rentals on Shuswap aren't cheap, especially high season. I do remember seeing a "Groupon" type deal. Did you take advantage?
Re: Trout Fishing In Kashmir"
Did that in 1971. I was young and it was AWESOME.
You went into this office in Srinigar. There was a map on the wall of Kashmir with all the rivers and all the "beats". You picked the one you wanted and paid for useage. Each beat came with a cottage, cook/housekeeper and fishing guide. Fly fishing only. 1st day out targeted browns. They were striking but a bitch to land. Couldn't in fact.
Our guide offered the perfect solution. For $US1 he would allow us to fish for rainbows and dig up all the worms needed, screw the regs. 18 2-3# rainbows later we called it a day. Took 3 hrs. Lot of fish. We fed a lot of people.
The cottage - very comfy 1930's craftman style - British Empire, they did get their comforts right. It was comfy and like stepping back in time.
Scenery - AWESOME
The cottage garden - marijuana
I still dream about this experience. It was Nirvana.
It still exists. It still is there.
Check it out and post.
Trout fishing in Kashmir is in the top 5 of my bucket list.
And yes, beer is available, was. It's rice based. There's also loca hootch - look out.

Re: ANYONE INTERESTED IN FISHING
After the long weekend it is off season so the rates are 1/2 price. 4 days was $2800 which isn't bad when you divide it by 10 guys.
Re: ANYONE INTERESTED IN FISHING
Nice price on the rental, so what was the tab for the beer?

Re: ANYONE INTERESTED IN FISHING
We went to Kashmir on a family vacation in 1961 and went the houseboat route for the four of us to stay:
[img][/img]
If my memory serves, my father and I fished the rivers three days with each river being different. You are correct about landing a fish when you hooked one because of the large volumes of water. The following video shows the speed of the water:
We did follow the rules that dictated using artificial lures only. Think we only managed to land enough fish for one dinner for four cooked on the houseboat with some absolutely incredible new potatoes cooked Kashmir style.

AWWW! How could you resist those pleading eyes? As a matter of fact, is it the camera lights or are those eyes way too light in colour?...kind of like cataracts?...maybe he can't fish for himself any more?

Re: ANYONE INTERESTED IN FISHING
Nah.....he could see really good. Almost took my fingers off when I was feeding him the fish parts. The seals follow the boats back to the docks like trained dogs. They beg for the guts when we fillet the catch on the dock. The little buggers take half the fish off our hooks while we are fishing too ......
