Where can I Buy a Computer Flat Screen Monitor?

Where can I buy a flat screen monitor, probably 22 inch, decent brand name? What should be resolution and refresh rate?

Is a normal flat screen TV the same thing?

John, Check with Adrian...... 331 064 8578.....I think you posted his contact info last year. He makes trips into GDL every week and I think he can probably get you what you want. BTW....he is going today to pick up a replacement MB for me.

PS I wonder how long it will take for this thread to hit the Octagon? LMAO

Refresh rate is meaningless with LED/LCD monitor
It is always 60 which is bad in CRT's but doesn't
matter in flat screens. Some show motion faster
than others. If watching sports than get a faster
screen.


1920 by 1080 is my resolution for my 23" all in one 16/9 format.

TV is a TV, Computer monitors can be different. Most TV's don't
have a VGA plug. If your computer output is HDMI than you could
use a TV. I would pay a little bit extra for a better looking screen.
Avoid bottom end TV's and Monitors.

Zed, sounds greek to me.....I am non techi as well. Can you recommend a 22 or 23 inch ....monitor? Not looking to download or watch movies.

Zed - Thanks. I knew you would post. I only use it for emails and downloading digital pics, then use Adobe Photo Shop Elements to photo shop them, then print.

Now I have an older 20 inch Sony Graphics Monitor (CRT). Sometimes it flashes just a little blue, red green tint not in any order so I figure it's going. Besides, I think they're a power hog.

I don't like or buy lower quality stuff. I still believe in you get what you pay for. I've had Sony TV's forever.

Don't worry about refresh rate obsolete concept.

I would get a 23" 16/9 monitor. 1920 by 1024
(1920 dots accross the screen with 1024 lines
going down the screen).

Any good brand. Viewsonic, Samsung etc etc
just stay away from uber cheap.

You know what looks good use your eyes.

Make sure it has the connectors you use.
VGA, HDMI, Component, Video (rca jack).
Example if you have an old sat reciever
that uses Component than component
would be useful. If you are using an old
VGA connector than it would be important
to have VGA. Not all monitors still have
VGA connectors.


I don't know specific models as I get my monitors
directly from HP on a retired employee deal.

Anybody wants me to go with them to Costco or
walmart to help just yell but I think you guys can
do it. If you like a model let me know and I can look
it up.

Remove the video cable and replug and plug and replug. You might have
a little corrosion but it probably is time to move on. Your 20 inch monitor
is probably TV format 4wide to 3 down. When you get a new HDTV monitor
you get a 16 wide to 9 down so a 23" 16/9 monitor is probably close to
what you are using with your Sony Monitor. Yes old Sony Trinitrons burn
gobs of power. My Sharp 52" led lcd TV only uses 80watts in energy saving
mode and the picture looks very good even with low brightness.
