Any golfers out there?

Coming down in Feb, what kind of shape are the courses in? Which would you recommend? Price?

Check out www.ccchapala.com, the website of the Country Club de Chapala. The rates are listed. The course is in really good condition now, in my opinion, but the rough will be browner by February, as will most of the Lakeside area. I can't find a website for Chula Vista, but someone may have more success. There are also several golf courses in the Guadalajara area that are reasonably accessible from Lakeside. You need to play the courses to decide which one you prefer.

For a real 18 hole golf course and country club try Atlas CC, just past the GDL airport. The two little local courses are nine holes and crowded.

If you are used to a "real golf course" then Atlas in Guadalajara is your only option. But not sure what they offer for part time memberships. BTW it's only a 40 minute drive from Ajijic. CCC is a 30 minute drive, so time is not the issue.

Cheesehead, I've been a member of both. Atlas is the longest course in GDL,( unless you play the ladies/senior tees!) which is why Lorena played there so much before her retirement. However, there is virtually no social structure. Atlas has great facilities, a handful of club tournies, ladies day once a month, 8 months out of the year. After 3 years as a member of Atlas, I reluctantly returned to Chapala CC...yes a 9 hole course! My wife is now a happy camper, playing with the ladies.... 5-6 days per week....which makes my life easier ! She actually broke 100 twice last week! Socially, I am happy to be back, and enjoy.... B S ing with my friends from 2005-2008. Where you join is a personnal choice! JUST sayin

I can't get you a comp round, as I understand it @ Chapala, but David can get you comped @ Atlas! In 2007 my son visited, and I had to pay for his round. In 2008 he visited again, and Atlas comped him 2 rounds...minus cart and caddy of course! Atlas has a strict rule....one guest per month per member......however visiters from out of country are treated well.....Chapala CC on the flip side is member owned, and tend to trip over nickels like they are man hole covers....LMFAO!
