I'm interested in current events in the great world beyond Lakeside. Joec's suggestion might be fun - but I don't know if it will remain civil, given the way that seemingly innocent posts can devolve into shouting matches at the drop of a hat.

Since when is there some rule that says anything in the Octagon must contain offensive language or name calling? There are plenty of posts made by members who are not language challenged!

Interesting that this is brought up by a member with a history of looking for a "boogie man" behind most anything that happens in the world.

I started this forum to be about life around the lake and things about/around Mexico in general. A major "world event" can always be posted in the Mirador however I wouldn't want a whole section dedicated to it. As of Monday if it even remotely smells of US or Canadian politics it will be deleted. I may open up the political section again after things have died down in 6 months or so.

There are plently of political and world news forums out there. I suggest you go join one if that is what interests you.
