Homebrew shop?

Anybody know where to find a Homebrew shop here or Guad?

The Beer Lounge in Tlaquepaque has supplies. If you get on FaceBook look for Elba Copado Brewmaster. She teaches classes and her husband runs their brewing. Google The Beer Lounge in Guadalajara for more.

I believe that the Beer Lounge in Tlaquepaque is no longer. They use to be located in the Plaza Artisana's on Juarez but vacated over a year ago.

It's too hot in Mexico to make homebrew. You would have cool everything, that takes electricity, that means high cost. On the other hand, if you make homebrew beer without hops, and then distill it off - then you have whiskey!

Yes it was in Santa Clara del Cobre. We were working with a new source for copper products and that was one thing they just had sitting around. Our new source is the honcho of the most powerful "clan" of copper makers and he has an incredible amount of copper products just sitting. The still was sitting in a shop (one of two) that he isn't even opening because of extortion threats. Just for drill I have sent an email off to our contact for a price on the still. Our contact is an old friend who recently went to work for him to assist him in marketing his incredible and massive on-hand inventory. I have no idea exactly how much he has in completed inventory but I would guess it exceeds $1M USD!

Thanks for the information, folks. Since I won't be brewing lagers, the temperatures in Chapala will work. The Egyptians didn't have refrigeration, so I think I will be just fine. I've got a few tricks up my sleeve and its not my first rodeo, so look on the horizon for new things happenning in our little Burg. Thanks everyone for your help. Keep the ideas flowing

I did try google and came up with zilch.
Maybe I did it wrong. I blame it on the beer.

I know four people who make ale,stouts, and porters here. The temperature is
not A problem. Lagers are too hard to make and I prefer ale. Pilsners are hard
to make also.

I share your feelings, Zed. And I prefer the tastes of the ales. I did some "throw it away or make something" experimentation back when I had a brew supply shop in Grand County, CO and came up with a few surprise recipes that won some tastings. Long live "Big Butt Beer".

Real ale should be fermented and dispensed at 52 to 54 degree F, or 12 to 15 C. This is if you want natural carbonation. If you want to run everything through a CO2 carbonation and a chill plate - well - it could be any old swill.

So, how to achieve a temperature stable room at these specs - there's the problem.

For those curious about the cost of the still - it can be purchased directly from them for $40,000MXN.

My knowledge of stills is zip/zero and I have no idea what one of this size would sell for. I just did a quick Google search but everything I found was much much smaller in size. I am going to ask how many liters this particular model is and then do some searching to see if I can find a similar size for cost comparison.

Think 'copper pot distillation still' or 'copper alhambic still'. This seems very high to me, but then I prefer stainless steel, that can also be switched to reflux distillation. If it is meant to be an ornament, a handmade sculpture if you will, - then the sky is the limit.

You would also have to running some big a55 burners to boil wort and distill at this altitude.
